As part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening and modernising the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, the NYSC Reform Committee was established to drive the review process.

The Committee, comprising the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, the Ministry of Youth Development, the Ministry of Education, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and other key stakeholders, is working to develop reforms that will enhance the structure, efficiency and overall impact of the scheme.

In line with this mandate, the Committee is inviting the general public and relevant stakeholders to the NYSC Reform Stakeholders Consultative Engagement Forum scheduled to hold on Monday, 8 December 2025, in Abuja.

The forum will provide an opportunity for open dialogue, idea sharing and meaningful contributions toward shaping the future of the NYSC.

Today, the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit, led by the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination @hadizabalausman, hosted the FGN Delivery Team to a comprehensive engagement session in Abuja. The gathering was designed to reflect on the outcome of the Q3, 2025 performance assessment and to receive practical feedback which will enhance the CRDCU’s processes, workflow, and overall coordination going into the next cycle.

The session brought together Director Planning, Research and Statistics, Delivery Managers, Desk Officers, Technical Aides, FCDO, and sector experts across various Ministries and Presidential Initiatives. Together, they examined performance data, discussed challenges encountered during implementation, and identified areas that require stronger collaboration to ensure the smooth delivery of the President’s key priorities under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

In her opening remarks, the Special Adviser reinforced the importance of the performance assessment as more than a routine administrative check. She noted that it serves as a vital accountability tool that ensures government policies translate into tangible improvements for Nigerians. She also stressed the need for timely and accurate submissions from MDAs, explaining that effective delivery depends on a system where every participant provides reliable inputs and plays their role with full commitment.

She encouraged all participants to engage openly, share genuine feedback, and treat the session as an opportunity to strengthen the collective delivery machinery of the administration. According to her, the CRDCU remains committed to coordinating and tracking progress in a manner that bridges the gap between policy intent and visible results across the country.

She acknowledged the dedication of the Directors, Planning, Research and Statistics of Ministries, Delivery Managers from the CRDCU, the FCDO, as well as the Desk Officers and the Ministerial Aides who have shown unwavering commitment throughout the assessment period. She expressed heartfelt appreciation, noting that their work, long hours, and steady contribution to the delivery ecosystem have not gone unnoticed. Commending their resilience, she urged them to sustain the momentum as the administration heads towards the end of the year.

Today, the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU), led by the Head of Administration, Mrs. Yetunde Akinloye, held a strategic meeting with Brigadier-General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, the Director-General of the @officialnyscng and his management team at NYSC Headquarters, Yakubu Gowon House, Abuja.

While speaking on behalf of the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, @hadizabalausman, the Special Adviser to the Minister of Education and Team Lead of the delegation, Mr. Ismaila Adiatu, commended the Director-General for the innovative steps he has taken since assuming office. He also emphasised the importance of addressing systemic bottlenecks affecting the NYSC, including funding constraints, infrastructural deficits, and the need for stronger inter-agency collaboration.

The meeting also spotlighted the ongoing NYSC reform process. Mr. Adiatu noted that a comprehensive survey had already been conducted by the NYSC Reform Committee to gather insights from Corps Members and stakeholders nationwide. He informed that a validation session, which will review the findings and lay the groundwork for implementing reforms designed to modernise the scheme and enhance its relevance in today’s Nigeria will hold soon.

In response, the Director-General of NYSC outlined a bold five-year strategic plan aimed at transforming the Corps. Among the key initiatives, he highlighted the expansion of orientation camps to ensure better security and improved living conditions for Corps Members. He also emphasised the establishment of additional SAED (Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development) workshops to equip youths with practical skills for self-reliance, alongside initiatives to provide greater access to basic health and welfare services.
