One thought that deeply moves me is the idea that people who sleep curled up are often seeking comfort, warmth, and a sense of safety.

I cannot help but picture him as a child, alone in the middle of the forest, keeping himself warm with his tail.
It is not surprising that, given his nature, this instinct seems to take over during his most vulnerable moments.

We could have become the warmth and safety he had been searching for all along.
