75th Honorary Doctorate

Deeply humbled to receive my 75th Honorary Doctorate from Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner, a State University of Rajasthan, at a Special Convocation held at Lok Bhavan, Jaipur today.

It was a matter of great honour to receive the degree from Hon’ble Governor of Rajasthan and Chancellor of the University, Shri Haribhau Bagde. I am grateful to Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Higher & Technical Education Minister Dr Prem Chand Bairwa, the Hon’ble Ministers and MLAs, the leadership of Maharaja Ganga Singh University and all the distinguished persons present on this special occasion.

This honour is very special to me. It is my 75th Honorary Doctorate, conferred by a government university through a Special Convocation at Lok Bhavan. Such recognition gives me more strength and also greater responsibility to continue working for the people in society.

Above all, this honour has come just two days before the 10th Punyatithi of my beloved mother, Nilimarani Samanta. I dedicate it to her sacred memory, her struggles, sacrifices and blessings. Whatever little I have been able to do in life is because of the values she gave me.

My heartfelt gratitude to Maharaja Ganga Singh University, especially the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr Manoj Dixit, and everyone associated with this honour. It will always remain very close to my heart.

Our lovable KISSians, who were part of the 20 KIIT and KISS students selected under the fully funded Erasmus+ KA171 Student Mobility Programme at the University of Craiova, Romania, returned to the KISS campus today and were given a warm welcome by the KISS family.

During their stay in Romania, they represented India, Odisha, Santali language and tribal culture on an international platform. They performed Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet in Santali language at the International Shakespeare Festival, where participants from over 30 countries witnessed and appreciated their talent.

After their return, they also had the privilege of meeting the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji, who appreciated their participation and performances. They also performed at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, before a distinguished gathering of more than 500 people, including over 200 ambassadors, high commissioners and diplomats.

KISS is proud of its students. Their journey from KISS to Romania and back is a beautiful example of how education, opportunity and confidence can take tribal children to the global stage.

Heartiest congratulations to all our students. May they continue to make KISS, Odisha and India proud.

74th Honorary Doctorate

Humbled to receive my 74th Honorary Doctorate from IES, Strasbourg (France), for my contributions to society over the last three decades.

I am deeply grateful to IES, Strasbourg, its Founder, Ms Soula Kyriakou, and its Co-founder, Ms Zinaida Kyriakou, for this honour. It gives me more strength to continue working for society and humanity.

Happy that KIIT has also signed an MoU with IES, Strasbourg, to further strengthen meaningful collaboration and create new opportunities for students and faculty.

I am happy to know that all our KISS students pursuing MBA in Rural Management at KIIT School of Rural Management (KSRM) have been placed in different development organisations.

Every year, around 5% of meritorious students from KISS are selected to pursue professional education at KIIT with full scholarships, and most of them get placed through campus recruitment.

It feels good to see them taking up professional roles. I am confident they will bring positive change in their own lives and also contribute to society.

My good wishes to all of them for the days ahead.

Congratulations to Somanath Hembram, our KIIT & KISS student, for winning two Silver medals in Archery (Men’s Recurve Individual and Team events) at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026.

I feel very proud to see the continued performance of our athletes. Odisha has now secured 57 medals and finished 2nd in the overall medal tally, with 21 Gold, 15 Silver and 21 Bronze medals. It is a matter of pride that 29 medals (9 Gold, 7 Silver and 13 Bronze) have come from our KIIT and KISS students. My good wishes to all of them for the days ahead.

During his visit, he spent time seeing the campus, interacting with our students and understanding the work being done at KISS for the education and empowerment of tribal children. I am happy that he appreciated the efforts of our institutions.

Every year, before the Matric Examination, I make it a point to meet my children at KISS and hand over a pen to each of them. It is a small gesture, but it carries my blessings and my faith in them.

This year, 2,100 of our students — 1,100 girls and 1,000 boys — are appearing for the examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha. It is perhaps the highest number from any single school in the country. For many of these children, this examination is not just about marks; it is about hope, confidence and a step towards a brighter life. Most come from very humble backgrounds, yet they carry big dreams. I always tell them to remain calm, stay focused and write their exams without fear. Hard work and sincerity will always bring results.

My blessings are always with them. May they move ahead with confidence and make their families and society proud.

I always feel happy when I see our students grow in classrooms and on the field with the same sincerity.

Our KIITian Swasti Singh has made us proud at the Track Asia Cup 2026 held in Chennai. In the Women Elite category, she won Gold in the 4 Km Individual Pursuit with a timing of 5:28.692 and also secured Silver in the Elimination Race. Competing at a UCI Class 2 continental event and performing with such confidence is not easy. She has shown quiet determination and strength.

At KIIT and KISS, we always try to give our children an environment where academics and sports move together. When young minds get guidance, discipline and proper facilities, they naturally rise. My blessings are with Swasti for many more milestones in the days to come.

As every year, the annual scholarship examination conducted by the School and Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha, has once again brought pride to KISS.

I am very happy to see my young children from KISS performing well at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation level. Class III students Snehasree Mallik, Tikima Pradhan and Titiksha Pradhan, and Class V students Trinath Pradhan and Sushree Niharika Nayak, have achieved success through their dedication and sincerity.

I congratulated my lovable KISSians and wished them a bright future filled with learning, confidence and service to society.

We celebrated the 77th Republic Day at KISS with deep patriotic feeling, in the presence of Hon’ble Members of Parliament from Sri Lanka, including Shri Namal Rajapaksa as the Chief Guest. The day was marked by a disciplined parade, meaningful addresses, and vibrant cultural performances by our students.

It was heartening to see our students and employees of KISS being felicitated for their achievements. The colourful tableau and cultural programmes reflected unity, heritage, and the confidence of young minds shaped through education and values.

The celebration reminded us that nation-building begins in classrooms and communities. At KISS, we continue to believe that education, culture, and character together create responsible citizens for the country.

President of FIDE, Mr Arkady Dvorkovich, joined our KIIT and KISS students for a friendly football match at the Rahul Bose Rugby Stadium. The match ended in a cheerful 5–5 draw. When leaders and students come together on the field, there is no formality—only smiles, energy.

Happy & proud to congratulate my lovable KISS Girls’ Rugby Team for becoming champions at the Asia School Rugby Sevens Championship in Bangkok. Many felt they were too young and not ready, but I believed they would represent India with confidence and return as champions.
