Mysuru's name carries a story that stretches back to the Puranas.

The city's name is believed to derive from Mahishur or Mahishasurana Ooru in Kannada, meaning the town of Mahishasura.

According to the Devi Bhagavata Purana, the buffalo-headed asura Mahishasura ruled this region. Unable to withstand his tyranny, the Devas prayed to the Devi Parvati. Parvati manifested as Chamundeshwari and slew Mahishasura atop the hill that is today known as Chamundi Hill.

The victory of Dharma over Adharma gave the hill its name, while the city retained the memory of the vanquished asura, eventually evolving from Mahishur to Mysuru.

Doordarshan sought permission for the re-telecast of Ramayana by proposing to pay ₹25000 per episode to Ramanand Sagar's daughter-in-law "Nisha Ben Sagar" for the copyright as per the rules. 

Nisha Ben Sagar wrote back letter to Doordarshan stating that I would be happy that todays children will know about Ramayana and you should telecast the entire episode. 

She further wrote she don't want even a single penny for copyright and thus Nisha Ben Sagar refused to take Rs 25000 per episode for the telecast of Ramayana and gave written permission. 

Sanatan Dharma teaches us Dharma, kindness, humanity, helping tendency, doing good deeds and pure conduct, an example of which is this is the best
