MOSSY HEAD MAN ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING VICTIM IN THE EAR WITH A PELLET GUN

WALTON COUNTY, FLA – A 25-year-old Mossy Head man faces aggravated assault charges after shooting someone in the ear with a pellet gun Friday.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested D. Aaron Chance Taylor on October 16, 2026, following the report of a shooting at a home on Stewart Circle.

@WCSOFL deputies responded just after 11:00 a.m. and spoke with the victim, who said he and Taylor had argued earlier that morning about missing money from a tip jar at a gas station.

The victim told deputies the argument became heated and Taylor walked away. Moments later, the victim said they felt a sting on the side of the head and looked up and saw Taylor running away. The victim was bleeding from his ear, and @WCFRFL paramedics later found two wounds caused by a projectile. He was taken to the hospital for further care.

A witness said they saw Taylor point a rifle‑style pellet gun at the victim and fire before the victim fell to the ground. The witness told deputies that Taylor then hid and the witness lost sight of the gun.

About ten minutes after paramedics left the scene, Taylor came out of nearby woods wearing different pants and carrying another pair. He was quickly detained by deputies. While searching him, deputies found a straw that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Based on the investigation, Taylor was charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm and possession of drug equipment. He was transported and booked into the Walton County Jail.

Taylor received no bond at first appearance and is still incarcerated at the time of this release. His pre-trial detention hearing is set for 10/20/2026.
