For those who love rock salt. The initiative was taken by government and responsibility given to Tata to iodize sea salt because there was iodine deficiency found in Indian people.
Himalayan Rock Salt vs Iodized Salt: Let’s Bust Some Myths
▶️MYTH 1: “Himalayan salt is healthier because it has minerals.”
FACT: Yes, it has trace minerals; but in amounts so tiny they offer no real nutritional benefit. To get meaningful calcium or magnesium from it, you would need to eat dangerous amounts of salt.
▶️MYTH 2: “It is more natural, so it must be better.”
FACT: Natural doesn’t mean nutritionally superior. Your body processes sodium the same way, whether it’s pink, white, or expensive.
▶️MYTH 3: “Sendha namak is better for BP and heart health.”
FACT: There is zero credible evidence that Himalayan salt lowers blood pressure or protects the heart. Sodium is sodium.
▶️MYTH 4: “Iodized salt is inferior or ‘chemical’.”
FACT: Iodized salt is one of the greatest public-health success stories. Iodine prevents goiter, hypothyroidism, and most importantly brain damage and lower IQ in children.
▶️The uncomfortable truth:
Most Himalayan rock salts are not iodized. In a country like India, that matters.
▶️So why pay 3–4× more?
You are paying for:
🔸Colour
🔸Texture
🔸Branding
🔸A wellness narrative; Not for proven health benefits.
✅The science-based choice:
✔️ Use iodized salt at home
✔️ Keep salt intake low (<5 g/day)
✔️ Don’t confuse premium pricing with better nutrition
Pink salt may look premium.
Iodized salt protects brains.
Choose science over marketing.
If someone enjoys Himalayan salt for taste or texture, that is fine, but it should be a culinary choice, not a health decision.

Humne dhunda use chaaro ore,
Haat laga bas mutthi bhar shor.
Haara huwa mai, bikhra padha mai,
Mehsus hua ungli meh ek dorr.
Laga wahem hai bas,
Shayed firse khudko khone chala?
Naadan mai mujhe kya pata,
Sametteh huye unn tukdo ko, dhund raha mujhe koyi bhala
