Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina embezzled over $5 billion from the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, according to a report published by Global Defence Corp on Saturday. The report alleges that the project’s implementing agency, Rosatom, facilitated the embezzlement through a Malaysian bank, with mediation by her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and niece, Tulip Siddiq.

The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is the country’s largest and most expensive project, expected to meet 20% of Bangladesh's electricity needs once fully operational. The report claims that the construction cost, set at $12.65 billion with Russian cooperation, was significantly inflated, allowing the misappropriation of $5 billion.

You may have seen this photo widely shared on social media, claiming that this elderly man is being humiliated by students in front of Sheikh Mujib's residence, as he attempted to pay homage on the anniversary of his death. Despite his religious appearance, this man was an infamous rapist during his time as a student leader in Hasina's student wing at Jahangirnagar University. One of his close allies even went so far as to celebrate his 100th rape. He has been identified, but the punishment for his actions has not been severe. Awami League members are highly skilled at deceiving people in a very effective manner.
