Dear @AlbertaPLP, I'm stunned to see 'human-centered design' now championed on your website. As PLP's inaug Dean in 2016, I pioneered this approach amid intense opposition & hostility, even barred from using 'design' in projects. This is Intellectual plagiarism. @ABDanielleSmith
The definition & approach to #LifelongLearning in Medicine on @UAlberta_FoMD website is grossly incorrect & misleading. It is entirely aligned with #CME#CPD
My book, Lifelong Learning By Design https://t.co/iy6dsMxyuk may help the incumbent A.Dean L3
(2nd ed. coming soon)
#LifelongLearning in Medicine is a distinct philosophy, transcending CME / CPD, hence not interchangeable.
It's about evolving beyond terms, embracing transformation and innovation.
Discover more in 'Lifelong Learning by Design', with even richer insights coming in the 2nd ed.
How I envision hospitals would look like if we were to EVER design them using human-centred environmental #design principles.
(Expected response from almost 100% #healthcare and academic #medicine leaders: “you what???…using what???”)

PSYCHOLOGICAL PROTECTION at workplace is demonstrated when people feel able to safely ask questions, seek and give feedback, report mistakes and problems, or propose a new idea without fearing negative consequences to themselves.
Shame is not a negative emotion. It’s a misunderstood and polluted one.
Emotions are signals with a message. I have a take on shame that incorporates being raised & educated in hierarchies…and that shame can be an ally of growth.

Pursuing a mostly narcissistic path will eventually be an unfulfilling path. Influencers are not alright and even when they admit it, it’s for currency.
‘Recognition and Reward’ is one of the most essential factors in establishing psychological health & safety in workplace.
It requires appropriate acknowledgement and appreciation of efforts in a fair and timely manner.
There’s absolutely NO *real* plan, desire, wish, determination, commitment, aspiration, initiative or even understanding by healthcare leaders to address the TRAUMA—NOT “BURNOUT”—healthcare workers are suffering from!
Except appointing Wellness Leads sans any vision or authority!
Here on my break and can't even eat. Why? So many questions. We don't take mental health seriously enough. People are not kind enough. Nurses do not have enough support. The government doesn't care one bit about the damage they're doing to us. #MentalHealthMatters
I'm sad. Very sad. We lost a nurse colleague to suicide. Our hearts are broken. So many questions. We are mourning. Crying through our shifts while still caring for patients & working short-staffed.
Please check on nurses. Fight for nurses. We wonder who else is struggling 😢
I NEED SOMEONE TOO

I come to a stop. I’m panting, my hands trembling.
My eyes flit around and a sense of desperation slams into me; leaving me even more breathless.
