TASPC 2021 is India’s Trauma, Addiction and Suicide Prevention Conference, an annual event brought to you by Indian Association of Private Psychiatry (IAPP) and Safe Space. Let's become Suicide Safe!
We have lost a life to suicide because nobody cared to help! The media houses and the likes of Mr. Mukesh Bhatt do nobody any favours by trying to sensationalise suicide and seek attention at times of crisis. https://t.co/n5ByZ3n4Xo
Furthermore, statements like the one made by Mr. Mukesh Bhatt show us how easy it is for individuals to ignore mental health concerns instead of talking about them. If Mr. Bhatt 'saw it coming' as he claims, then why did he sit back and ignore Mr. Rajput's pain?
They can help us learn about our psychological needs and find healthy ways of fulfilling them. Reaching out and asking for what we need, whether it is appreciation, love or compassion is another approach to seek help from those around us.

Suicide occurs when an individual is unable to bear the psychache, revealed American psychologist Edwin Shneidman.
Psychache is the intense psychological pain we feel as a result of frustrated mental and emotional needs.
When left unaddressed, it leads to emotional distress, disturbances, self-destructive, addictions and suiciding behaviours.
To build #safespacesforeveryone, the first step is to identify ways of fulfilling our needs by talking to counsellors and professionals.
We either become self-dependent, with the realization that we need to fulfill our own needs or start clinging to others, although the needs remain unmet. These mechanisms eventually turn into our belief systems, which become the driving forces of our life.
