@hellierd You're not wrong. Safe standing in Germany generally accommodates two standing fans per rail seat (when the seats are locked upright & the area is being operated as pure standing).
Narrow rows in old UK stadia make that impossible. But rows in new builds are adequately deep.
Great to see the UK's latest safe standing area all set to open at @StJohnstone - And all the better that it's fitted with proper, compact, steel rail seats, funded in part through the fundraising efforts of the @faircityunity supporters group. Well done club and fans!
@nrpsimpson@jordanpbanks@StJohnstone@faircityunity Correct. If you're not doing the full width of a stand, it needs to be a block at one end or the other in order to prevent causing sightline issues for fans sitting in adjacent areas.
@jordanpbanks@StJohnstone@faircityunity Hey, no worries. Here's the 'before' picture. The lads standing in that area with no rails to prevent them from falling forward. And due credit to them: they raised a fair bit of money towards the overall cost.
@jordanpbanks@StJohnstone@faircityunity The block here is where @faircityunity currently stand. So, this is giving the fans in that ultras group better infrastructure in their existing 'home'. They have certainly not been pushed into a corner out of the way!
@Laboysco@grok@DeadlineDayLive Grok is wrong. No new rule has yet been passed. And two thirds of the Yellow Wall is a conventional terrace fitted with conventional crush barriers.
Best not to trust an AI tool that simply scrapes its data from misinformed press stories.
@TommySligo Correct. They were given exemption when the 50+1 rule was introduced due to having financed the clubs - at all levels - for over 20 years beforehand.
@PnoTuna@SwindonSA@RedsssSeaside@CamelSaunders@pieman80 It's probably above 25 degrees on some places. 25 is the limit for a conventional terrace, and is what caused some confusion around the time of safe standing's introduction. However, "licensed standing in seated areas" is treated for this purpose as seating, so 35 degrees apply.
We recently had the pleasure of welcoming football fan Jon Darch to the Wham Stadium! 🤝
Jon is “Doing the 92” in style and we were proud to be his 65th stop.

@RedsssSeaside@CamelSaunders@PnoTuna@pieman80 It would now be possible to convert the Town End to safe standing. No rules against it. Depending on the solution used, it would cost circa £50k to £250k.
