We invite every stakeholder to add a voice, expertise or support. Let us turn concern into action and make drowning prevention everyone's responsibility.
Young children struggle to cross flooded roads on their way to school. Vulnerable people face life-threatening challenges, businesses suffer losses, and taxis and motorcycles become stranded in dangerous waters.
Recognizing that a nation’s true sovereignty lies in the health, dignity, and autonomy of its young people, the day’s sessions provided students with the essential tools and knowledge needed to navigate adolescence safely and confidently
As Uganda celebrates Independence Day under the banner of national progress, the Safe Youth Advocacy Network Uganda (SAYA-UG) hosted a transformative school outreach program centered on the theme "INDEPENDENT & EMPOWERED: Healthy Choices. Healthy Youth. Stronger Uganda."
As Uganda celebrates 64 years of Independence, Safe Youth Advocacy Network Uganda (SAYA-UG) is taking the celebration to God’s Ways High School for a powerful youth health and empowerment outreach.
As part of our ongoing grassroots outreach, Safe Youth Advocacy Network Uganda (SAYA-UG) conducted two engaging sessions at Mukono High School, bringing together young girls and boys for meaningful conversations on menstrual hygiene and mental health.
DAY 6 — ONE NOTIFICATION CAN WAIT.
In Kampala, taxis and other vehicles share the road with children walking to and from school. When children are crossing, drivers must put the phone down, slow down, stay alert and give pedestrians the time and space they need to cross safely
This is so unfortunate losing Young Heroes with dreams. We argue road users to be more vigilant and drivers to be keen on the road. Our condolences to the family.#Road safety
DAY 5 — LOOK. LISTEN. CROSS.
As schools resume, let’s remember that pedestrians are road users too. Whether walking to school, work, home or anywhere else, stay alert, check the road before crossing, listen for traffic, use safe crossing points and avoid distractions.
Passengers: Wear and properly fasten your helmet, hold on securely, avoid distracting the rider, and speak up if the rider is speeding or riding dangerously.
“When the rain comes, slow down. Your destination can wait—your life cannot.”
🌧️ DAY 4 — RAINY ROADS, SAFER RIDES
Boda boda riders: Slow down, increase following distance, use headlights, avoid sudden braking and sharp turns, and watch out for slippery, flooded or damaged sections of road.
🏍️ DAY 3 — NOT EVERY BODA BODA IS A SAFE BODA BODA
As young people return to school, many will rely on boda bodas for their daily journeys.Learn to recognise safer riding behaviour before you get on.
A helmet is not just something you carry in your hand or hang on the bike. It is protection for your head and potentially a decision that can save your life.
Key message:
“Your school journey is important. Your life is more important. Helmet up every time you ride.”
“NO HELMET. NO RIDE.”
As schools resume, thousands of young people are using boda bodas to travel to and from school. Before the boda boda moves, your helmet must be on—and properly fastened.
Students have resumed school – let's keep our roads safe!
As a Safe Youth Advocacy Network, we urge every youth and family to prioritize safety: wear helmets on bikes, obey speed limits, cross safely at designated spots, and report dangerous roads.
We also need to move beyond conversations that place the entire burden of sexual and reproductive health on girls. Girls deserve dignity, protection, accurate information and the freedom to make informed decisions. Boys deserve the same opportunity to learn about responsibility.
Yesterday, SAYA-UGheld a powerful holiday SRHR session at Hotel Passions, Bombo Road, bringing together students from different secondary schools for an honest and meaningful conversation about growing up, making informed choices, and protecting their health and future.
We need parents who listen, schools that create safe and supportive environments, health workers who provide accurate and youth-friendly information, communities that protect young people, and boys and girls who understand their rights and responsibilities.
HER BODY, HER VOICE, HER FUTURE 🌸
This Thursday, Safe Youth Advocacy Network Uganda (SAYA-UG) will be engaging holiday makers from different schools in an interactive Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) outreach at Hotel Passions, along Bombo Road.
