The Gvt of #Philippines should closely examine the recent report of #CPJ, #FPU and #RSF on the murder of radio journalist #GerryOrtega. Prompt action from the Gvt is essential to demonstrate its professed commitment to end impunity for crimes against #journalists.

On this day, 15 years ago, Francis Nyaruri was found decapitated in Kodera Forest, #Kenya.
Nyaruri covered issues of local corruption, and was murdered because of it. His killers are still at large. In the absence of justice, what remains is the pain: https://t.co/dDC5i35yZq
In 2015, Kenya’s High Court acquitted two people suspected of killing Nyaruri.
The court castigated the police for a “poorly investigated” case, saying they had failed to follow obvious leads.
Today, CPJ remembers Nyaruri and calls on Kenyan authorities to finally deliver justice to his family.

@amnestysasia shared this great timeline of the assassination of Lasantha Wickrematunge. A panel of judges of the People's Tribunal, organized by us in 2021, found the Sri Lankan government guilty of human rights violations related to his murder. We demand #justiceforlasantha.
🇱🇰Lasantha Wickrematunge was assassinated on this day 15 years ago.
Despite the Sri Lankan government's assurances to resolve the case domestically, investigation has stalled. Justice has eluded his family to date, who have been continuing their fight for accountability for Lasantha's killing.
Today, exactly six years ago, #DaphneCaruanaGalizia was murdered for doing her work: uncovering the truth.
To this day, full justice has not been served. We will keep calling for justice in memory of Daphne and her work.
We need a safer world for the truth.

This Tuesday, we commemorated the 12th anniversary of the murder of Mexican journalist Miguel Ángel López Velasco (Milo Vela), his wife Agustina and their son Misael.
Every week, a journalist is killed. In 8 out of 10 cases, the killers go free. On the #EUDayAgainstImpunity, we remain hopeful that this can change. Safer World's 2022 Impunity Report highlights Avenues to Justice for journalist murders. Read it here: https://t.co/uQ6BPBL5BN
