More than any other thing, politicians and political leaders have the greatest responsibility of uniting us as a people. The reasoning behind this is simple; politicians have divided us along ethnic, regional and religious lines more than any other group since independence.

The challenge with this division is that execution of policies and projects as well seeking solutions to the myriad of issues that bedevil us as a people is only done through the dirty lens of ethnicity and religion, robbing the nation of the best plans and the best minds, while opening up our flanks to external factors that accelerate our downfall.

The politicisation of insecurity is guaranteed in this type of environment. As a result, citizens suffer endlessly under the debilitating effects of insecurity while leaders blame their opponents or an entire tribe for the security lapses.

Never have we brazenly been so divided as we have by this present administration. Conversation has shifted under the direction of the incumbent from the impact or non impact Governmental policies and plans to the puerile issue of which regions' turn it is to be President.

The holding of an office does not necessarily benefit the generality of the people of that region. It mostly benefits those who are close to the holders of the office in question.

What benefits the people is the policies, plans and projects of the Government in power.

We are in a crisis of Government at the moment. Issues concerning the home base of the President are treated with a different standard compared to the rest of the country.

The last administration returned us to a January-December budget cycle.

This administration has the record for the most budgets run in a year, with the lowest cash backing releases ever. Ethnic and Regional biases have been amplified to the high heavens under this administration, as a means to retain political power.

This is where the ADC's A-Team comes into play. If we agree that uniting people and building consensus goes beyond mere platitudes, then the ADC has fielded the only ticket capable of uniting Nigerians.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar GCON has by his actions over the past 6 decades demonstrated a strong belief in the unity of Nigeria. As a politician, he counts amongst his close allies Nigerians of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. His educational scholarships cuts across tribes and regions, targeting vulnerable children who would otherwise have found it difficult to get quality education. As a businessman, his businesses are spread across the country, all having positive impact on their local communities. As a politician and Vice President, he championed economic reforms that benefitted the entire country in real time.

Rotimi Amaechi as Governor did not prioritise one section of Rivers State over others. He gave each community, each LGA, the same quality and standard of projects. His RSSDA overseas scholarship scheme deliberately targeted children of the less privileged and brought so many families out of poverty. As Minister, his projects were spread across the country, so much so he was accused of "abandoning his people." Wagon Assembly plant in Kajola, Ogun State, University of Transportation in Daura, Katsina, Inland Ports in Baro, Niger State, Kaduna, Kaduna State, Onitsha, Anambra State, Ibadan, Oyo State, Railway Yard in Agbor, Delta State etc.

Individually, these two individuals have demonstrated an understanding of the deep divisions that exist and have effectively utilised governmental power in a sincere attempt to heal these divisions. Collectively, they will do more.

The A Team is forged for this very moment. This is Nigeria's most dynamic Presidential ticket ever.
