My favourite type of student to have are students who have no desire to work in mental health or don’t understand how OTs could work in mental health. The lightbulb moment where they start to understand is priceless.
You might hear people say:
“that’s just a loaf of bread...”
That is PROCESSING SKILLS
That is MOTOR SKILLS
That is SOCIAL SKILLS
That is SENSORY INPUT
That is LEARNING
That is GRADED CHALLENGE
That is ENABLEMENT
That is not “just a loaf of bread”
That is OCCUPATION

Well done to all the AHP leadership students especially @AlyOT2B and @SaffronOT our 1st OT leadership students. The work you have all done was fantastic and it was lovely to see how closely you have worked as a multi professional team with your physio colleagues from @BoltonUni
Loving placement so far, day 1 & 2 inspiring watching leaders lead and the inner workings of the NHS. Day 3 productive meeting with @SaffronOT laying out and paving our joint project and also completing the first level of a leadership course: https://t.co/6Kz4Lz7e9F #JennerProg
Just before the week ends, let’s check our privileges using this Wheel of Privelege by Dr Flavio Azevedo (originally from Kathryn Pauly Morgan 1996). Acknowledging that I am #privileged makes me identify what I can do to lessen oppression & injustice in my space and daily life.
