Ravana : The Women Right's Activist

Every year, on Dusshera, Movie and Rakshabandhan, people praise Ravana, for he never touched Sita Mata and waited for her consent (Which he never got coz lord ram popped an arrow in his naval) and say things like a brother should be like Ravan who fought for his sister with gods even.

Let's break it down-

- In Viavat Puran, Surpnakha was married to Dushatabuddhi, an Asur in the court of Ravan. Ravana killed him and made her a widow.

In another version, She secretly married Vidhyutjihva, a Danav from hell. Ravan killed him and made her a widow here too.

- Hence, Surpnakha always wanted to kill Ravan after this. When she met Ram and Laxman and after laxman chopped her nose, Ravan wasn't the brother she went to. It were Khar and Dushan. They first sent a few demons thinking Ram to be an ordinary human. They all got killed. Then Khar himself came with his entire army and got everyone killed except Akampan, who was left alive purposefully. Then surpnakha realised that it was ram who killed Tadaka (Her grandmother), Khar and Dushan (Her brothers) and Subahu (Her uncle), He definitely was someone who could kill Ravan too. So she went and told Ravan about Sita and said that she would be a perfect wife for him, and as she plotted, he got killed.

Really good brother sister relationship.

Coming to respecting woman,

In Uttarkaand, Ravan raped Apsara Rambha, the daughter in law of his brother Kuber. Kuber's son Nalkuber cursed Ravan that the next time he touches a woman without her consent, His head will explode.

In Gunabhadra's Uttara Purana, Ravan again sexually assaults Manivati. Manivati swears that she will take revenge, and guess what, she was reborn as Sita.

Ravan ALSO tried to rape Vedavati, Grand daughter of brihaspati. Vedavati immolated herself in Fire and promised that she will be reborn again to cause Ravan's Destruction. She again, is said to be reborn as Mata Sita.

I don't agree with Rahul Gandhi's priorities on everything either, but this isn't about him. Prayagraj (Allahabad) has been one of the biggest hubs for government job aspirants in North India for years. now of UP.
Thousands of students move there specifically to prepare for competitive exams and facing many issues.

You can disagree with the politics, but pretending Allahabad isn't an epicentre of government exam preparation is just ignoring reality.
