The Government of Ghana is going to construct a 2.7-kilometre tunnel (Accra bypass tunnel) as part of the Abidjan-Lagos ECOWAS road.
This is the alignment of the ECOWAS Road on the stretch in Ghana.
Starting at the Aflao side (Volta Region):
- Akanu / Aflao- main border post (Ketu North)
- Denu
- Akatsi
- Dabala
- Sogakope / Kasseh
- Sege
- Dawhenya
- Tema
- Accra - Tetteh Quarshie Interchange area
The Tunnel Section (Greater Accra to Eastern Region):
- After Accra, it goes through Adenta
- Ga East - TUNNEL ENTRANCE
- 2.7km - 3km under the tunnel
- / Aburi / Akuapem South - TUNNEL EXIT
This tunnel is to avoid the steep Aburi hills and protect the forest reserve. It will be the first long road tunnel in Ghana.
Then Central / Western Region to Elubo:
- Winneba Junction
- Apam Junction
- Mankessim
- Saltpond
- Cape Coast
- Yamoransa
- Sekondi-Takoradi
- Agona
- Esiama / Daboase
- Apimanim Junction
- Elubo - border with Côte d'Ivoire
In total, the government said it affects 32 communities in 6 regions
The whole Ghana part is divided as:
- Lot 1: Elubo - Apimanim (110km)
- Lot 2: Apimanim - Cape Coast - Accra - Akatsi - Akanu (466km)
Note 📝: The ECOWAS Road will not pass through the old N1 that we use today, which is Winneba → Kasoa → Weija → Accra → Tema
The new highway would bypass Accra at about 15km east of Winneba, and would continue across the Akuapim range to Miotso and then through the Volta Region to Akanu. One of the objectives is to provide an expressway with little or no congestion.
The design of the road is currently ongoing and is likely to be announced in the next annual budget for the year 2027.
I spent my entire day finding companies abroad that are actively hiring remotely. I found a few companies all hiring remote workers and compiled them into one sheet.

Mode of application has been added, so all you have to do is send your CV & portfolio where necessary.
