KEM Hospital has sent MBBS student Sejal Pawar on forced leave for 15 days following her controversial statement

MBBS student Sejal Pawar of KEM Hospital and Medical College has been sent on 15 days of forced leave following controversy over a viral social media video. A preliminary inquiry found that the person in the video was Sejal Pawar and that her remarks were prima facie unacceptable. She has been barred from entering the hospital, college, and hostel premises during this period. A five-member committee has been formed and is expected to submit its report within seven days

KEM Hospital and Medical College has expressed concern that the controversy surrounding MBBS student Sejal Pawar may affect her mental well-being and has advised her to undergo counselling to prevent stress or depression. Sejal Pawar's parents broke down before the hospital administration and apologised for the incident

Dean of KEM Hospital Dr Harish Pathak says, "Yesterday, we came to know through social media that a video is being circulated in which one of our students is seen making objectionable comments about dead bodies. It is highly unacceptable. We are very sensitive about respect for the dead, especially as bodies are donated with great emotional commitment for medical education. I have constituted a two-member committee to inquire into the matter. We expect the report by evening, and appropriate action will be taken thereafter"
