First of all, the officers who forcefully tried to disarm him and continued dragging his rifle with him are supposed to be charged or called to order; they clearly don’t understand their responsibilities or know their job.

Secondly, as a military officer with an assigned rifle, that rifle is the closest and most cherished item in your life. You can never let go of it even if you’re dying. You shower, shit, eat, and go anywhere with it. You can only part with it if you’re on leave or pass, and even at that you must follow due process and protocol, and properly document it.

So that being said, as his superior, you cannot order your colleagues or his colleagues or officers on ground to forcefully take away his rifle just because you have a disagreement with him. That is unethical, unprofessional, and an offense in itself.

MS ADAMU could have easily charge him to order and the Naval police will handle it from there.
