@CanadianPolling Alberta ending up with an NDP government while British Columbia ends up with a Conservative government would honestly be pretty funny given the political reputations for each province lol
@bacon4l60897831@DRvulupa This trend wasn’t exclusive to just VA. NJ also resulted in a landslide win for the Democrats. And pretty much every special election in 2025 also showed huge swings to the Democrats.
@LouAnonAnon I’m someone who lives in the middle of a big city in an apartment and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else but it seems pretty obvious why some people wouldn’t like that. Lots of noise, sometimes homeless people, safety issues, rents are pretty high, etc.
@nagamyzuna First-world is a stretch, their Human Development Index value is between those of Peru and Thailand. I’ve never heard anyone call them first world countries!
@souljagoyteller The French left would be better served uniting under Glucksmann rather than Melenchon IMO, it seems clear that Melenchon has very little chance of winning the 2nd round but at least Glucksmann has some chance of winning!
@ArmandDoma If anything, it’s Macron and his party’s fault for being so unpopular during their past 9 years of ruling the country that French people decided they would rather have a far-right party instead.
@ArmandDoma While the riots are certainly not helping the left, blaming them for helping Le Pen doesn’t make sense, she already had a good chance of winning and her chances haven’t shifted much since the riots began.
@bdquinn People clearly saw the EV data as promising for the Democrats. My own theory is simply based on the environment alone and that Nevada has a high percentage of Hispanics, who are shifting left quite a bit, it means Ford has a better chance of winning than polls indicate.
@StatisticUrban Yes definitely, looks like getting a college degree makes your chances of becoming wealthy much higher! There’s literally no way I would have a solid accounting job without it.
@nikicaga Not as big of a diaspora outside of the country compared to other Asian countries so it’s pretty much a mystery to the average person in the West maybe other than the Netherlands or Belgium.
@HoodBiology I don’t think that’s an unreasonable assumption no? With Trump out of office, the next president is likely to be more reasonable when dealing with close allies. Europe and Canada, while more wary this time, absolutely prefer to have a friendly relationship with the US.
@mattyglesias I’m not sure if I agree with this, I think most people would be happier working from home actually and not having to commute. The issue is with career advancement and training. I have felt like I learn best while working in office and get more time with managers.
@Thorongil16 Eh not really. Early voting starts tomorrow and there’s less than a month left until Election Day, doubt any sort of spending will make much of a difference at this point.
@NickyFrank30 Anyone who said that was an idiot. But with that being said, it would be even more idiotic for any Democrat to let Michigan be won by a Republican during a blue wave midterm. Everyone needs to come together and unite for just another month!
