Putting this out here because it sounds very plausible in my head and I want to put this out here before chapter 5 comes out in case I'm correct. I'm about to explain why I believe Noelle will die in the chap 5, and what the purpose of the weird route is

Thank you for listening to my crazy ramblings. I'm so excited for Chapter 5 to release in a couple weeks and my head's been swimming with ideas and theories, I needed to at least get this one out because it just felt like it made sense... I guess I'll see how wrong I am soon LOL

Taking my reasonings of why Noelle will die into account, I believe Toby Fox is using the weird route as a sort of faux playground rumor that is intended to keep Noelle alive in the story, much like the rumors that spawned from the death of Aerith in FF7 back in the day.
