In the meantime I'm living that freelance life again. Finishing up projects, starting new ones. I'm hoping to also write a lot more music—one of the only things that can keep my focus these days.
Please hire me while I can still outlift the AI bot bros.

@Demruth Haven’t played in years but I think I just wanted something more from the ending. Not through dialogue or characters or anything heavy handed, but a moment that tied the messages and black glitchy cubes together. Because something clearly ‘happened’ but I still don’t know what.
As rents rise & wages stagnate and the homeless are shipped off to prison for free labor, regulations crumble, and the oceans rise people will still be screaming “vote!” because acknowledging the corporate capture of both parties is just too uncomfortable for people.
They realised like 20 years ago that the graphics arms race was unsustainable + they have 40 years of talent they've actually retained unlike literally any other publisher.
@joewintergreen I have been using articy draft for the past year which is extremely nodesy and I honestly cannot imagine going back to something like Ink. Flow charts are so much easier for my ape brain to organize and navigate.
@friede 70 hours ballpark average per episode, 85% of that being post production. Some episodes are as much as ~120 hours or as little as ~30 depending on cast size and scope of audio design required. This does not include pre-production or transcripts, which would probably double it.
We’re so excited to share the news: we’ve been working on developing an animated series based on Hello from the Magic Tavern. Read all of the details in the Deadline article and feel free to share!
@imranzomg I am not an economist but I blame the millionaires and billionaires who cannot even fathom the idea of a paycut under their hubristic goal of infinite growth
desperately need you all to understand that in the coming age of generative AI no one is coming to save the arts
on a commercial level everything is about to be completely devoured
only through the stubborn will of direct support do any of our fellow humans stand a chance
We released the season 4 finale for Hello from the Magic Tavern this week! I'm super proud of it and wanted to shout out some of the people that made it so great!
@zette16 Strong disagree actually. Yahtzee's the only gaming critic I've stuck with post entering the industry. I feel like he writes in good faith. He doesn't do weird "gamer's rights" CTAs or toxic off-the-cuff rants. He's a comedy writer and he's harsh and that's part of the bit.
@delaneykingrox Antichamber. The design felt so radical in that many of the "solutions" required you to just get out of your comfort zone and break the rules. Can't remember any one specific puzzle, but I played it all in one sitting and thought everything unraveled in a really satisfying way.
So, I've been picking away at a new audio fiction podcast that launches next month.
I took the intro music by the insanely talented @Sage_GC and put it to some video clips for 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒗𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒔 and it came out better than I could have hoped.
@cursiveradio I agree with you that it's bleak. I guess I'm getting at that its less of an artistic problem and more of yet another a labor problem. But more importantly WHAT!? WHAT GAMES!? WHERE CAN I PLAY THEM?
@cursiveradio Theres often a ton of content that gets cut, like different departments pulling out different Jenga blocks. So writers end up having to fix & justify much more than plan & execute. Its wack and I hate it but Im not sure what the solution is other than making smaller games. 2/2
@cursiveradio You wouldn’t think it’s a constraint but that’s the greatest disadvantage of the medium; it is so dependent on feedback that the stupidest things get juggled around before anyone knows what the thing you’re making actually is. And by then it’s done… 1/2
Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day. Here is me subjectating you all to my current hyperfixation of public domain artwork.
More importantly though, Joyce is an incredible VA and I feel very lucky to have her introducing the show.

*not all pirates in the crew could afford to commission a portrait due to recent inflation in our Royal Year of 1717
