18 ಲಕ್ಷಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಭಾಷಿಕರಿರುವ ತುಳುವಿಗೆ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಿದೆ, ತುಳುವಿಗೆ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಭಾಷಾ ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನ ನೀಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಆ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗೆ ಅನುಕೂಲಕರವಾಗಲಿದೆ.

It is spoken by 220 million people globally.

But British Linguist Robert Caldwell called Tulu "one of the most highly developed languages of Dravidian family"
