Flying back to the Sahara tomorrow for the Sahara marathon. Quick warm up before New Zealand.
Really excited to link up with @sandblastarts and share with you guys the impact being made in one of the biggest and least known about refugee camps in the world with all of your incredible donations during project Africa!
With less than a week to go we're packing our bags ready to go to this year's Sahara Marathon. Some of us are running, some are walking, some of us are dressing up as vegetables.
We are all raising money for the amazing Growing Hope Project. Link in bio. Follow our story here.
The Saharawi refugee camps have been here in Algeria since 1975. That's when Morocco invaded and forced the native Saharawi people to flee from their homeland.

Greta Thunberg "The Sahrawi people have the right to self-determination, freedom, and dignity, rights that have been denied to them. I would like to raise my voice in favor of the liberation of #WesternSahara."
1/ Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg visited the Sahrawi refugee camps near Tindouf, Algeria, to participate in a solidarity conference supporting the Sahrawi people’s fight for self-determination. 🧵
From the Saharawi refugee camps, @GretaThunberg declares: The Sahrawi people have the right to self-determination, freedom, and dignity. They’ve been violently denied those rights. The world is watching in silence. I want to add my voice for Western Sahara liberation.
Ryanair has announced plans to fly tourists into an occupied country, against the government in exile’s wishes. This move supports Morocco’s claim to Western Sahara, and will help finance its “illegal occupation”, a Polisario Front representative says. https://t.co/kQiBXYbz8b
.@Ryanair why are you misleading EU consumers into believing that Dakhla is in Morocco, rather than in Western Sahara (a completely different country)? As an EU-based airliner headquartered in Ireland, should you not be following EU/Irish legal positions?
.@Ryanair flights to Dakhla (Western Sahara) operate in an EU regulatory void as they are not covered by the EU-Morocco Aviation Services Agreement.
How does this impact flight operation safety, crew licensing, aircraft maintenance & EU consumer rights? https://t.co/QI0s7zkTu7
Launching these @Ryanair flights to Dakhla “is not only an affront to the right of self-determination of the Sahrawi people but is also a direct contribution to an illegal [Moroccan] occupation” of Western Sahara, Nafaa, the Polisario Front representative in Ireland, says.
