LoP Shri @RahulGandhi met with a delegation of IDBI Bank employees in Parliament today. The delegation expressed their strong opposition to the government’s move to privatise IDBI.

During the meeting, the employees highlighted the assurance given by the BJP-led NDA government in 2003, which is clearly being disregarded. They also conveyed their concerns that selling a profitable public sector bank to private entities would adversely impact the nation, the general public, and the bank’s employees.

लोकसभेत आयडीबीआय बॅंकेच्या खासगीकरणाचा मुद्दा उपस्थित केला. सरकारने बॅंकेचे खासगीकरण होणार नसल्याचे स्पष्ट केले असले तरी सरकारची पावले खासगीकरणाकडेच वळत असल्याचे सभागृहाच्या निदर्शनास आणून दिले. आयडीबीआय बँकेत सद्यस्थितीत वीस हजार कर्मचारी काम करत आहेत. तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री स्व. अटलबिहारी वाजपेयी जी यांच्या मंत्रिमंडळात स्व. जसवंत सिंह जी अर्थमंत्री असताना त्यांनी आयडीबीआय बँकेचे खासगीकरण होणार नाही. सदर बँकेचे ५१ टक्के समभाग सरकारकडे राहतील असे आश्वासन दिले होते. पण आज असे ऎकण्यात येत आहे की एलआयसीने बँकेचे शेअर घेतले असून ते विकले जाण्याची शक्यता आहे. असे झाले तर ६१ टक्के शेअर बाहेर जाण्याची शक्यता आहे. त्यामुळे बँकेचे खासगीकरण होऊ शकते. आयडीबीआय बँकेचे अधिकारी आणि कर्मचारी यांची मागणी आहे की बँकेचे खासगीकरण करु नये असे सभागृहात सांगितले. दरम्यान, अलिकडच्या काळात बँकेची कामगिरी चांगली होत आहे. बुडीत कर्जाचे प्रमाणही कमी झाले आहे. त्यामुळे बँकेचे खासगीकरण करु नये, अशी शासनाला विनंती केली.

Urged the government to uphold former Finance Minister Shri Jaswant Singh's assurance to the Parliament and refrain from handing over the majority stake in IDBI Bank to private entities during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha today.
