@pmc_org Takes Swift Action in Response to Tragic Death of the Medical Student

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has swiftly responded to the tragic death of a medical student, allegedly due to misconduct and mistreatment of the staff of Avicenna Medical College Lahore towards students, by launching a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
The PM&DC, as the apex regulatory body for medical and dental education in Pakistan, is deeply saddened by the loss of a promising medical student and extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this unfortunate incident.
The PM&DC has taken notice of the matter regarding the alleged misconduct and mistreatment of the aforementioned medical college towards students. In line with its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and patient care, the PM&DC has initiated a thorough investigation to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident. PM&DC sought comments from the Avicenna Medical College about the unfortunate incident stating to reply on priority with comprehensive details.
President of PM&DC Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, stated, "We are deeply concerned about the circumstances leading to the untimely demise of a medical student and are committed to ensuring that justice is served. The welfare and well-being of students are of paramount importance to us, and any form of misconduct or mistreatment will not be tolerated. He also added that the family of the deceased is welcomed to reach us to file the complaint"
The investigation will focus on evaluating the institutional practices and policies concerning student welfare, ensuring compliance. Additionally, the PM&DC will collaborate with relevant authorities and stakeholders to implement measures aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future and fostering a supportive and conducive learning environment for medical students across the country.

I seriously urge every authority figure who can even remotely help with the cause to initiate a governmental inquiry into Avicenna Medical College’s torture story. This is hollow damage control. Abdul Waheed Sheikh shouldn’t even be allowed near a kid, let alone be their chair.

The entire college is out to protest the hell hole it had become. After threatening students with detention, blocking access to their examination slips, the administration is finally succumbing to the pressure. But it’ll all be for the optics. A governmental inquiry is needed.
