Dravid had been Samson's biggest promoter in formative years of IPL and even into national ODI side when he was at helm, but not giving Sanju a single chance in 24T20 WC despite him being in better form than at least 4 others was Dravid-Rohit call

@SahilSalotra1 I will never forget or forgive the Dravid-Rohit combo who denied giving Samson even a single game throughout the WC despite him having a better IPL and being more in-form than Pant, and despite Pant being tried for a 3rd or 4th WC, despite Kohli's lean run and Dube's too in WC

@hi8esh_ @Cricketracker Sanju has that ability to go slow for a bit and then accelerate midway through like Rohit has, but he seldom does it in T20I as he believes that is a selfless format, plus being brought up in Kerala bowling minefields in red ball, he is excellent player of Spin in red ball

@hi8esh_ @Cricketracker That's why if you see Samson's SR, it is 99 ish which means he does not go hammer & tongs and can play overs and waiting game. Even in Ranji minefields of Kerala where bouts end in 2-3 days, he has 12-13 hundreds including patient double centuries again quality oppositions

@hi8esh_ @Nobinblake21 @Cricketracker OK wont bring Ishan :) fair point, but my concern is that Pant averages almost half of what Samson does, despite playing twice no" of matches and considering Pant has been tried in 3-4 World Cups and few Asia cups without delivering and Samson delivered in his only WC in 12 yrs

If not possible, then compare only comparable stats which means opening numbers of Sanju vs Abhishek. Any cricket following kid would know this :)

All other youngsters who promised equally or lesser while getting picked first time where given a chance of debut or in cases of some others 70 odd matches to prove

@hi8esh_ @Cricketracker Sustained ODI performances can only come based on sustained ODI selection, considering he is always stop gap arrangement, he has a stellar record. Even in 2014, when he came off a MOT performance in ODI formt in Australia, he was picked for Eng ODI's and got to debut only in 2019

Only thing he needs is role clarity in Middle order in ODI's - I agree that's been lacking from selectors side for Sameon

@hi8esh_ @Cricketracker Sorry Hitesh, The fact that a white ball legend like R Sharma has just 5 T20I centuries across career and still the highest ton maker in format, whole cricket fraternity knows a T20I ton is rated much > an ODI ton. SO I will count Samson's T20 tons on same SA soil as well
