You're comparing two different things:
That diesel will be consumed, at somewhere around 40% efficiency, so 60%-ish is wasted, and you can't ever use it again.
A Tesla battery pack can full-cycle charge at least 1500 times, so that 75kWh pack will store and discharge ~112MWh of energy over its life, charged from a variety of energy sources.
It's also extremely unlikely to catch fire, orders of magnitude less than an ICE vehicle.
The Tesla will also drive families around much safer than humans can. Literally a life saver.
I think taking this topic of pushing back on govt power grabs and taxation is VERY misplaced when it tries to demonize Teslas, which are superior to ICE cars.
I think you're mostly pushing back against a govt-mandated power grab push to transition to new tech without natural competition. If that's true, you're right to push back on it.
You might be surprised how well a Tesla replaces a gas car though. Bought our first about 7 years ago, and hands down will never go back to a gas car.
But anyone who wants to buy a gas car still, go for it.
Good take.
Long term, the sun is almost 100% of the energy in the solar system. We installed solar a few years ago, and it pays for itself and more. But yeah, let's use oil wisely for whatever we need it for. God blessed us with it for that reason.
Plus, being overdue for the next ice age makes me feel good that we're warming a bit.
This never gets old … John MacArthur explains the greatest gospel verse in the Bible:
2 Corinthians 5:21 - “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
This is insane...
It took 69 years for governments all around the world to launch nearly 4,900 Stateline in orbit.
But it only took SpaceX 8 years to launch nearly 10,000.
🤯
@wholemars Yeah but they also announced a $60k / $70k CT that's not available yet, so you know that undercut a ton of short term sales.
Overall they were up over 6% worldwide.
Yeah I'm racking about 30k mi/year, all on FSD, and will never go back to gas.
And I always loved road tripping in gas cars. Just no comparison, and unfortunately I don't think people can really believe it til they experience it.
Til then they just think the tree of, "fill in 5 min," while missing the whole forest.
@programmadness@KenCCheng@aviationbrk Colorful bright parachute, right in the line of flight of a 172/182... pilot should've seen it and reacted miles away. He just straight up wasn't paying attention at all.
One of the most basic private piloting responsibilities is to scan the sky.
Even road tripping is better in a Tesla. Stopping at Bucee's, a gas driver pulls to a pump, stays with the car fueling, then drives to a spot, then goes in for the bathroom / food.
A Tesla driver plugs in, goes right in, and the car is ready to go before the driver usually.
@programmadness@KenCCheng@aviationbrk The plane wasn't in a dive, it could see it from a mile away. When you're flying a 172 or 182, you can see clearly over the cowl, through the props, downward in front of you to the ground.
The pilot shouldve seen that parachute!!!!
@MatthewDR@DougDeMuro@JasonCammisa@cybertruck Love it. Those guys are right, enjoy the gas! Dude you wanna pay for it, you go!
Teslas are way better than anything else 99% of the time.
@programmadness@KenCCheng@aviationbrk The Cessna went right through that big parachute, meaning the chute was at the same altitude, and the pilot either saw it, or was too distracted not paying attention.
