This story is rage-inducing. Dallas cops violently arrested an innocent man after mistaking him for a guy with a similar name.
The kicker: After noticing their error, they can be heard making up bogus charges. He was jailed for days & lost his job.
And the worst part?
One of the things that is the most painful for me is to see how well the Church has made women apologists for their own oppression.
Had a lesson on the Priesthood(again) in Relief Society. I wonder how often the Priesthood have lessons on the Relief Society or women in general?
I used to think taking Jesus’ name in vain was to say “Jesus” as a cuss word.
Now I think it is when we Christians demonize, condemn, and mistreat people in the name of Jesus all while ignoring his teachings in our own lives, our churches, and our politics.
i think one most important ways to fight against conservative christianity is for progressive christians to be very vocal about why their christian faith shapes them to be progressive. it’s so important for the world to know that christianity does not mean conservative
I'm watching this Duggar documentary, and if you want to talk about sexualizing children, these "modesty" lessons are 100% it. Teaching kids that men shouldn't change diapers because babies inspire lust is disgusting on multiple levels.
I have been screaming for years that the Church has MORE than enough money to partner with like, Lululemon or Calvin Klein and design new garments
Imagine: Garments that fulfill their symbolic purpose vis-a-vis the Temple while ALSO being hygienic and COMFORTABLE to wear
Ajike Owens’ children were playing in a field near an apartment complex when a white woman yelled racial slurs at them and said to get off her land.
The children left behind an iPad which she stole. When one of the children came back to retrieve it she threw it at him and hit him with it.
Owens knocked on the woman’s door and without even opening it she shot through the door, killing Ms. Owens.
8 yes ago I started a temple dress company bc I was sick of the church’s old options. Then they started making better temple dresses. I’m THIS close to making garments bc I’m done hearing stories of women suffering.
Please note, Black people have been in this church since the very beginning. Yet, we’ve been in the way way back since the very beginning. Yes, we’ll celebrate the first black woman being to a gen pre in 2022 & celebrate her speaking at general conference in 2022! Thank you!
Whenever I am tempted towards a good us versus an evil them mentality, I remember this passage from Solzhenitsyn. It seems appropriate when discussing the parable of the wheat and the tares.
Before folks try to weaponize that talk against cross wearers, check yourself and don’t become part of our burden to worship with you in this church. #ElderHolland said, “I don’t wear a cross, but I’m cool with you wearing one.” #GeneralConference I’ll keep wearing mine.
From Elder Christofferson: "We may unwittingly impose standards on others that are not the Lord's standards."
I would like to reflect on this one some more #GeneralConference
Just thinking about a post where a woman staying in her workout clothes hours after her workout was listed as something sinful and just really wonder if we’ve maybe missed the mark somewhere along the line.

"What made me truly angry was how the man’s name had been blacked out. . . with a digitized black box, meaning that when this document was digitized within the last couple of decades, some worker or administrator at the Church History … https://t.co/Ih5noEf4gs
@Patbagley & it's important to remember in this discussion that CES Commissioner @ClarkGilbert—against the advice of President Nelson—removed antiracism from the BYU curriculum and continues to veto & shut down faculty initiatives combatting racism.
Horrific racism at a @BYU volleyball match in Provo yesterday. Too many assume racism in the campus community is “in the past.” Both BYU students and visiting athletes deserve to have a college experience free of prejudice and discrimination. @NCAA
