Last night, #Afghanistan tried to start a war on its border with Pakistan. Unprovoked attacks on several Pakistani posts were promptly repulsed with proportionate force. Precision aerial attacks were also carried out by the Pakistan Air Force in response,destroying Taliban posts, brigade headquarters and ammunition depots.

Over the years Pakistan’s military has quite spectacularly demonstrated its capabilities both in conventional and CT warfare over all theatres. So we know that Pakistan can deter, secure and protect every inch of sovereign land.

What the Taliban hope to gain by letting Afghanistan lapse into a proxy of India is lost on many. Weapons left behind by America can only last so long. While the supply chain of cash and covert-op resources from New Delhi are at a new surge, the limits of this strategic patronage are obvious.

After decades of using Pakistani hospitality in difficult times, Kabul’s choices are rooted in a fog of myopic overreach and the lure of short rents. The one sure thing about winter is that it will come again.
The international community will naturally evaluate Afghanistan as a potential terrorist risk. The implications for its strategic and human security are obvious.

Peace was not the only casualty in this episode. Despite what a certain Anglo-Afghan journalist tried saying and then deleting, in this encounter, no loss of lives were reported on our side.

Back home, for every Pakistani soldier, pilot, policeman serving on the border, a grateful nation will wake up secure in their beds because of their courage and vigilance.
Our message to them is clear and heartfelt. Thank you once again for your dedication and service. We owe you our safety and lives. PakistanHumaishaZindabad🇵🇰
