Deputy Mufti Sheikh Waiswa Signs Condolence Book for Late King Oyo
Representing Mufti Mubaje, Deputy Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa has signed the condolence book for the late Omukama of Tooro Kingdom, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, at his residence in Buziga, Kampala.

The Deputy Mufti conveyed condolences from the Mufti and the Muslim community of Uganda, recognising the late King’s contributions to unity, peace, youth empowerment and environmental conservation.

President of Religious Affairs Addresses Students at the Start of the New Academic Year: “Knowledge Is a Mission, Values Are the Foundation, and the Nation Is a Responsibility”

His Excellency the President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, delivered a message to students on the occasion of the beginning of the new academic year. He encouraged them to work diligently, make the most of their years of study in acquiring knowledge, uphold the manners and values associated with learning, maintain sincerity of intention for the sake of Allah Almighty, respect their teachers, and remain persistent and patient. He stressed that knowledge is the foundation for building the individual and the path toward the advancement of societies and the development of nations.

His Excellency said: “Our noble religion has elevated the status of knowledge and those who possess it, and has made the pursuit of knowledge one of the greatest acts of devotion.” Allah Almighty says: “Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge by degrees.” He added that beneficial knowledge, when combined with values, good character, and righteous conduct, produces a conscious and responsible individual capable of contributing to the service of their religion, leadership, nation, and society.

His Excellency praised the generous attention and continuous support given to education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by the wise leadership—may Allah support it—and highlighted how the educational system combines sound religious foundations with national belonging, authenticity with modernity, and seeks to raise generations who take pride in their faith, identity, and values, while being equipped with knowledge and capable of keeping pace with contemporary developments and contributing to shaping the future.

He called upon male and female students to recognize their responsibility in seeking knowledge, make good use of their time, benefit wisely from technology and sources of knowledge, and stay away from anything that distracts the mind or weakens determination. He urged them to make their academic year a field for excellence, creativity, and achievement.

In conclusion, His Excellency prayed that Allah Almighty bless the sons and daughters of the nation, grant them success throughout their academic year, make them beneficial to their religion and homeland, and reward teachers and members of educational institutions abundantly for their efforts in educating generations and developing individuals.

“Innovations in the Religion of Allah”

Whoever introduces into the religion something new and legislates from himself what Allah has not permitted, then it is rejected and not accepted from him. As mentioned in the hadith narrated by Imam Muslim in his Sahih, from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever introduces into this matter of ours (religion) that which is not from it, it is rejected.”

So every way that leads to celebrating the Prophet’s birthday is an innovation. If it was good, the early generations would have preceded us in it. But it is a rejected innovation, which must be discarded and not acted upon, even if some people find it acceptable or admirable. True humility is shown in accepting the truth, and the righteous predecessors acted accordingly. So every good lies in following the way of those who came before, and no reform will come to this Ummah except through what reformed its beginning.

Therefore, hold firmly to the authentic actions proven by the Shari‘ah, and beware of following the innovator. Indeed, worship is only acceptable through what has been legislated by Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

Excerpts from the Friday Sermon at Masjid Al-Haram

Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais — Imam and Khateeb of Masjid Al-Haram
8 Rabi al-Awwal 1448 AH

“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example.”

For more than fourteen centuries, lands and regions have been blessed by the mission of the Master of the Prophets, peace and the finest blessings be upon him. His pure and authentically preserved biography is filled with guidance and beauty, reverence and majesty, and wisdom manifested in both words and deeds:

“There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Your suffering distresses him; he is deeply concerned for you, and to the believers he is compassionate and merciful.”

He filled the world with justice, security and peace, and spread throughout the earth the foundations of truth, justice, tolerance, compassion and mercy:

“We have not sent you except as a mercy to all the worlds.”

The fragrant Prophetic biography is a historical treasure, a fountain of civilization, a scholarly methodology and a practical path of ascent that raises the Ummah to dignity and prestige, success and sound judgment. It is the biography of the one who guided humanity out of misguidance, taught it after ignorance, and raised aspirations toward the heights of honor and greatness — the Prophet of miracles, who sought to save us from the Fire. He is the greatest benefactor of every Muslim man and woman and, both by revelation and reason, the most deserving of sincere love and truthful obedience.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“None of you truly believes until I am more beloved to him than his child, his father and all people.”

And Allah says:

“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever hopes in Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah often.”

Such love must lead to obedience and submission, as Allah Almighty says:

“But no, by your Lord, they will not truly believe until they make you judge in their disputes, then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have decided, and submit completely.”

The Prophetic biography and the noble Sunnah, upon their bearer be the finest peace and blessings, are sources of honor and victory and among the clearest means by which the Ummah can attain strength and empowerment in every age. Therefore, the radiant Seerah must be revived, its meanings and objectives brought to life, and as time passes our attachment to it should grow stronger — through following its example, understanding it, gaining insight from it, embodying it in conduct and thought, and taking lessons from it.

O Ummah of the Seerah and the noblest of paths: Raise your children and families upon love for the Prophet ﷺ — a love of guidance and emulation. Honor the authentic sources of the Seerah found in the Prophetic Sunnah, such as the two Sahih collections and similar works. And defend the honor of the great Imams, the Prophet’s family, and his noble Companions.

Influencers and content creators on social media should take care to spread the authentic Sunnah, explain its meanings and objectives, its educational values and its creed-based methodology. They should benefit from events in the Seerah to strengthen Tawheed, moderation and balance; observe the proper principles of deriving and applying evidence from it; highlight the methodology of the early generations in doing so; and apply its lessons properly to contemporary circumstances. They must also beware of introducing innovations into the religion, as well as extremism and negligence. In this way, the correct methodology for dealing with the events of the Prophetic biography is preserved.
