🇩🇰🇪🇪🇫🇮🇮🇸🇱🇻🇱🇹🇳🇴🇸🇪 Eight like-minded democracies standing strong together today in Tallinn - backing Ukraine, boosting defense, and shaping a more secure and competitive Europe.
Yesterday’s Nordic-Baltic leaders’ meeting with Ukraine in Tallinn marked an important shift in perspective.
Support for Ukraine is no longer understood merely as assistance to a country under attack. We increasingly recognize it for what it is: an investment in Europe’s own security.
A free, strong, and fully European Ukraine is not just a beneficiary of our security — it is one of its guarantors.
Nordic-Baltic Leaders in Tallinn:
“Our aim is to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace, based on international law and the UN Charter. We will work to put Ukraine in the strongest possible position to achieve that and to increase pressure on Russia to agree to a full, unconditional and immediate ceasefire to engage in meaningful negotiations.”

NB8 (Nordic-Baltic countries) is emerging as a new powerhouse within the Western allied space. The meeting of heads of government held today in Tallinn marked a new chapter in the cooperation of eight like-minded and strong democracies. An integral part of this is the defence of Ukraine’s sovereignty. The presence of the President of Ukraine at the meeting was highly significant. 🇪🇪🇱🇻🇱🇹🇫🇮🇳🇴🇮🇸🇸🇪🇩🇰🇺🇦

Within hours of being announced as the nominee to be the U.S. Director of the CIA, I received a hand-delivered message on MI6 stationery congratulating me on my nomination. It was signed simply "C" in green ink. Legendary. I shared it with my son and even he thought I was now cool!
More than that, this note, from Sir Alex Younger, Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service of the United Kingdom, confirmed what I already believed: the work that the CIA and MI6 did together mattered, that the partnership was critical, and that two leaders focused on the mission could save lives and provide tools for our nations to deter our adversaries.
Alex's passing this week brought back so many memories of our time in service together. He flew to Langley to see me the day I was confirmed. We brought our two senior teams together in the UK to plan and coordinate and build in the first several weeks of my time on duty: making clear to them all that this relationship was more than special - it was critical for the security of our two countries.
Alex was a remarkable intelligence partner. When we needed help, it wasn't "let me see;" it was "this matters to you and America we'll get it done." And he and his team always did. I think he knew we would do the same for him and his team and his nation. Many Americans are alive today because of his leadership of MI6, I never knew how to thank him enough.
Alex became a friend as well. In the years since we both left office we would see each other from time to time. He was always so kind, so thoughtful, so smart. His deep love of his country was surpassed only by his deep commitment and love of his family. Decent and proper - and funny as hell - Alex was "C." As espionage requires, he was quiet, not attention seeking. He knew what evil was and he was ruthless in his efforts to crush it with every legal tool at his command. And he knew who his friends were and committed himself to supporting them.
I miss Sir Alex Younger. He was a role model for me and a man with whom every minute I spent was valued and savored. Blessings to you Alex. Praying for you and for your family. Well done and may you rest in peace in His hands.
I’m loving this sort of thing.
For years, Russia has been yelling about “Ukrainian Nazis,” the “Kyiv junta,” the “protection of the people of Donbas,” the “NATO threat,” and “we didn’t start this war, Ukraine attacked us.”
And then, as if nothing happened, Russian officials openly and publicly threaten Armenia with a “Ukrainian scenario” if its pro-Western government, which has been confidently re-elected, continues moving closer to the European Union and European countries.
Today we mark 100 years since the entry into force of Jewish cultural autonomy in Estonia, the first of its kind in the world.
This milestone reflects Estonia’s longstanding commitment to democracy, diversity, the protection of minority rights, and a tradition of inclusiveness towards the many ethnic communities living in Estonia.
These values have provided a solid foundation for the Jewish community to preserve and develop its identity, while enriching Estonian society through its cultural, social and intellectual contributions.
”Last year almost 500 000 Russian tourists were let into Europe, while Ukrainians were dying on the battlefield. This situation needs to be stopped.
That is why we, together with 10 other Member States, have put forward an initiative for new EU visa restrictions for Russian citizens.” @JohanForssell at JHA
Today is the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression. For Ukrainians, this is a painful reality that has become part of everyday life.
Since 2022 alone, Russia has killed 707 Ukrainian children, injured 2,548, and left 2,318 missing. The youngest victim was just two days old - born and killed in a maternity hospital.
These figures may be far higher, as the full truth about what has happened in the temporarily occupied territories remains unknown. In addition, at least 20,470 Ukrainian children have been deported to Russia or forcibly displaced.
Eternal memory to all the children whose lives have been taken by Russia's aggression...
While Ukrainians are dying, Russians should not be vacationing on European beaches.
In a joint letter, Estonia and 10 other countries have proposed new measures to limit the issuance of EU tourist visas to Russian citizens.
🕯💔 During the missile attack on Kyiv on the night of June 2, a 29-year-old woman named Veronika was killed. She was running to a shelter with her two young sons.
The older boy is almost 5 years old, and the younger one is nearly 3.
A missile struck behind them.
One of the boys was saved by a stranger and suffered only a bruise. The other underwent surgery.
The children still do not know that their mother is gone.
Relatives say that Veronika was a wonderful mother, a kind person, and worked as a stylist and nail technician.
🕯 May her memory be eternal.
Remember the pig heads at the Paris mosques? Or the Jewish centers painted green?
I knew exactly whose work it was the moment I saw it. Now — I finally have the proof. 🧵 [1/19]
Russians killed Veronika during last night’s shelling of Kyiv. One of her sons lost a leg and spent hours trapped in a shelter with his leg torn apart before he could be rescued.
The fate of her other son is still unknown. It is also unknown what happened to Veronika’s mother, the boys’ grandmother.
He was only three years old😭
Born during Russia’s full-scale invasion, he never had the chance to know what peace feels like.
The war he was born into is the war that killed him.
This is not a movie about meteor showers before the apocalypse; this is Russia bombing Kyiv last night. A city with several million people in it - children, the elderly, and normal families just like yours.
Who says high defence spending is unpopular? Living next to Russia tends to focus the mind. Estonians’ willingness to defend their country against aggression ranks among the highest in the world. 💪🏻 Si vis pacem, para bellum — if you want peace, prepare for war.
The Estonian 🇪🇪will to defend remains strong.
▪️81% of residents support armed resistance if attacked.
▪️62% are ready to participate in defence activities
▪️Over two-thirds back defence spending of 5% of GDP or more.
