ஒடிசா மாநிலம் பாலசோர் அருகே இரு பயணிகள் ரயில்களும், ஒரு சரக்கு ரயிலும் மோதிக் கொண்ட விபத்தில் 280-க்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் உயிரிழந்ததும், ஆயிரத்துக்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் காயமடைந்துள்ளதும் மிகுந்த வேதனையையும், அதிர்ச்சியையும் அளிக்கிறது.

நாட்டையே உலுக்கியுள்ள இந்த விபத்தில் தமிழகத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களும் பெருமளவில் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது நம் வேதனையை அதிகரிக்கிறது. உயிரிழந்தோர் குடும்பத்தினருக்கு ஆழ்ந்த இரங்கல்களைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன். காயமடைந்தவர்கள் விரைவில் குணமடைய வேண்டுமென விழைகிறேன்.

உலகம் முழுவதும் அதிர்வலைகளை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ள இந்த ரயில் விபத்து, இந்திய வரலாற்றின் மாபெரும் துயரங்களில் ஒன்றாக மாறியிருக்கிறது. பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், விபத்தின் தாக்கத்தில் இருந்து மீள தேச மக்கள் அனைவரும் துணை நிற்போம்.
