Brother @Dayanidhi_Maran, distorting facts—whether out of ignorance or knowingly—is not political ethics.

Our Chief Minister, Revanth Anna, attended the conference of Chief Ministers and political leaders from the southern states convened by Thiru M.K. Stalin and categorically opposed population-based delimitation. He has not changed his stand, and neither has the Congress.

The Congress position is absolutely clear: South Indian states that successfully implemented family planning must not be punished by losing their rightful parliamentary representation.

Telangana Chief Minister @revanth_anumula did not propose BJP’s population-based delimitation model. He advocated a “Hybrid Model”, where a state’s economic contribution (GSDP) and development would also be given equal weightage in a 50:50 formula. His position is aimed at protecting the political representation and interests of the southern states.

It is BJP’s one-sided, population-based delimitation that we oppose as a betrayal of South India.

But I see that you have changed your position. Perhaps you want to be closer to your new political friend—that is your choice and not our problem. But please do not spread lies and misinformation about our Chief Minister Revanth Anna or misrepresent the Congress position.

Instead of indulging in petty politics, let us stand together for the rights of Tamil Nadu and the entire South and defeat any attempt to undermine our political representation.

The South must stand united. Our representation is not negotiable.

ஒட்டுமொத்த தென்னிந்தியாவையும் வஞ்சித்து, வடமாநிலங்களுக்குச் சாதகமாக பாஜக கொண்டுவரத் துடிக்கும் மக்கள்தொகை அடிப்படையிலான ஒருதலைப்பட்ச தொகுதி மறுவரையறையைத் தான் நாங்கள் "தென்னிந்தியாவிற்கு இழைக்கப்படும் துரோகம்" என்று எதிர்க்கிறோம்.

தெலங்கானாவாக இருந்தாலும் சரி, தமிழ்நாடாக இருந்தாலும் சரி — குடும்பக் கட்டுப்பாட்டை வெற்றிகரமாகச் செயல்படுத்திய தென்னக மாநிலங்கள் ஒருபோதும் தண்டிக்கப்படக் கூடாது என்பதில் அகில இந்திய காங்கிரஸ் கட்சி உறுதியாக உள்ளது.

I have written to the Hon’ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha urging that the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 be referred to the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Coal, Mines and Steel for detailed scrutiny.

The Bill raises serious concerns over State fiscal powers, federalism, retrospective legislation and the delegation of legislative powers to the Centre.

I have particularly flagged the proposed Section 9D, which seeks to restrict State Governments from imposing taxes, cess and other levies on mineral rights and mineral-bearing lands, while giving the Centre the power to prescribe the conditions governing such levies.

The provision seeking to deem certain levies, including those covered by court judgments, decrees or orders, invalid "at all material times", also warrants close constitutional and legal scrutiny.

A Bill that directly affects State revenues, federalism and judicial determinations must not be rushed through Parliament. It deserves clause-by-clause examination by the Standing Committee, with the views of States and relevant experts duly considered.

I have therefore urged the Speaker to refer the Bill to the Standing Committee in the interest of constitutional propriety, fiscal federalism and sound parliamentary scrutiny.

Wrote to the Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker urging him to demand Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on the police brutalities on students - on the floor of the House.

The Delhi Police and the CRPF, which were at the forefront of the violence against students, report to his Ministry.

Our Constitution clearly states that the Council of Ministers (of which he is a senior member) are collectively responsible to the people of the country.

It is, therefore, his Constitutional obligation to give a statement on this matter in Parliament. He must be compelled to speak on this issue in the Lok Sabha.

And the Home Minister? Nearly 20 days and Amit Shah has not come to Parliament to answer for it. Every Opposition motion for a discussion has been rejected.

His silence is not an oversight - it is approval of the violence. He is either culpable or incompetent.

We demand a Supreme Court monitored inquiry. And we will not stop fighting until he is held accountable.

ஒன்றிய பாஜக அரசின் அலட்சியத்தால் முடங்கும் செவிலியர்களின் எதிர்காலம்! டிஜிட்டல் இந்தியாவில் விளம்பரம் மட்டும் தான் உண்டு; செயலாக்கம் இல்லை!

ஒன்றிய அரசு கொண்டு வந்த "தேசிய செவிலியர் பதிவு மற்றும் கண்காணிப்பு முறைமை" (NRTS) திட்டம் தொடங்கி 7 ஆண்டுகள் கடந்தும், நாட்டின் மூன்றில் இரண்டு பங்கு செவிலியர்கள் இன்னும் இதில் பதிவு செய்யப்படவில்லை என்ற அதிர்ச்சி செய்தி வெளியாகியுள்ளது.

நாட்டிலேயே அதிக செவிலியர்களைக் கொண்ட மாநிலங்களில் ஒன்றான தமிழ்நாட்டில், மொத்தம் உள்ள 4,76,264 பதிவுசெய்த செவிலியர்களில் வெறும் 57,084 பேருக்கு மட்டுமே (12% மட்டுமே!) இந்த அமைப்பில் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. 4.19 லட்சத்திற்கும் அதிகமான தமிழ்நாட்டுச் செவிலியர்களின் விவரங்கள் இன்னும் ஒன்றிய அரசின் பட்டியலில் ஏற்றப்படாமல் புறக்கணிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன!

இந்திய தொழிலும்சார் செவிலியர் சங்கத்தின் (IPNA) இணைச் செயலாளர் சுட்டிக்காட்டியுள்ளது போல், இந்திய செவிலியர் கவுன்சிலின் (INC) போதிய மேலாண்மையின்மையும், பொறுப்பின்மையுமே இத்தகைய பின்னடைவுக்கு முக்கியக் காரணம்.

மாநிலங்களுக்கு இடையே இடம் பெயரவோ அல்லது புதிய பணிக்கு மாறவோ தேவையான 'தடையில்லாச் சான்றிதழ்' (NOC) பெற மாதக்கணக்கில் செவிலியர்கள் காத்துக்கிடக்கும் சூழல் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது.
வெளிநாடுகளில் பணிபுரியச் செல்ல விரும்புவோரின் சான்றிதழ் சரிபார்ப்புப் பணிகள் முடங்கியுள்ளன.
செவிலியர்களின் வாழ்வாதாரமும், வேலைவாய்ப்பும் கடுமையாகப் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

ஒன்றிய சுகாதார அமைச்சர் @JPNadda அவர்கள் உடனடியாக இதில் தலையிட வேண்டும். விடுபட்ட அனைத்துச் செவிலியர்களின் பதிவையும் விரைவுபடுத்தி, அடுத்த 6 மாதங்களுக்குள் அனைவருக்கும் "தேசிய தனித்துவ அடையாள அட்டைகளை" (NUID) வழங்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்.

'டிஜிட்டல் இந்தியா' என மார்தட்டிக்கொள்ளும் பாஜக அரசு, நாட்டின் சுகாதாரத் தூண்களாகத் திகழும் செவிலியர்களின் எதிர்காலத்தோடு விளையாடுவதை உடனடியாக நிறுத்த வேண்டும்!

“உலகின் வேகமாக வளரும் பொருளாதாரம்” என்று பெருமை பேசும் மத்திய அரசு, இளைஞர்களுக்கு போதுமான வேலைவாய்ப்புகளை உருவாக்கத் தவறிவிட்டது.

வேலை கேட்கும் இளைஞர்களுக்கு கிடைப்பது வெறும் வாக்குறுதிகளா?

No one is saying delimitation itself is unfair. Delimitation is a constitutional requirement and was rightly implemented after Independence by Congress governments.

The real question is What should be the basis of delimitation in today’s India?

When the Constitution was framed, there was no expectation that some states would dramatically reduce population growth by successfully implementing national family planning policies while others would not.

Once that reality emerged, Parliament itself recognised the problem and repeatedly froze delimitation to protect states that had acted in the national interest.

If delimitation based purely on current population is always fair, then why did Parliament under Indira Gandhi and later Atal Bihari Vajpayee freeze it for decades?

Nehru, Ambedkar and the Constitution gave us delimitation. Later governments recognised a new challenge and adapted accordingly. That is not a contradiction; it is the Constitution responding to changing realities.

The demand today is not against delimitation. It is for fair delimitation one that preserves India’s federal balance and does not penalise states that successfully implemented national policies.

Not a smart question, @DevadossGabriel.

When the Constitution was framed, the problem of population explosion—and its implications for economic development—was not foreseen.

Subsequently, population growth became a serious bottleneck to national development, and governments introduced strong population-control measures. India adopted its first formal National Population Policy in 1976, and the first post-Independence delimitation exercise was also legislated around this period.

States that implemented these policies sincerely, in the national interest, succeeded in bringing down their population growth. This created the fundamental contradiction in delimitation: should states that successfully controlled population growth be penalised with reduced political representation?

That is precisely why Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee each postponed delimitation by 25 years—not to punish states that had helped the nation develop faster by controlling population growth.

Stalin too, just a few months ago, vehemently demanded that delimitation be postponed by another 25 years for essentially the same reason.

So, Gabriel, your question is based on a half-truth. Please look at the full context before simplifying this very serious constitutional and national-development issue!
