The record label & publisher behind music by James Brown, Goo Goo Dolls, Bonnie Tyler & others has sued Suno and Anthropic, accusing them of infringing their copyright by training on their music & lyrics.

The lawsuits claim the statutory damages sought in each could conceivably exceed $1 billion.

A recent poll found that 59% of Americans would oppose an AI data center being built within 10 miles of where they live.

Around $130 billion worth of U.S. data center projects were blocked or delayed in the first three months of 2026 alone.

Now developers are fighting back, with some taking local governments to court. In at least one case, a developer successfully challenged a local ban and got the project moving again.

A video game lawyer says anti-AI clauses are becoming standard in game development contracts.

Haley MacLean, a lawyer who works with indie and AA studios, says almost all her clients now have contracts that restrict or ban generative AI.

The change has happened quickly over the past year, as devs and publishers add these clauses to avoid legal risks and because many gamers hate AI-generated content.

AI-created assets can be hard to prove ownership of, and if based on copyrighted material they risk infringement claims.

She expects lawsuits over AI-generated game assets in coming years as companies use AI more to cut costs.
