@JamesAFurey If anything like Britain: disheartening school culture (results driven), and poor discipline so too much disruption- frequently coupled with parents who have to work too many hours to encourage learning effectively. That was my experience as a British school teacher.
@jeremycorbyn Correct. This is precisely the problems league tables have caused for schools. If anyone was listening we wouldn’t make the same mistake with hospitals.
@rebeccabutlerm2@jeremycorbyn Those who served and fell were victims of violence. Most didn’t choose it; they were sent over the top at gunpoint to settle an argument they didn’t start. I think that’s where he’s going with this.
@SteB777@GeorgeMonbiot In brief, there was a lot of ‘Trump is misunderstood’ and some of the obligatory ‘George is alarmist.’ Calling George a catastrophist seems to be par for the course whenever he’s on; it’s personal and it’s gaslighting. I don’t know how he puts up with it.
@GeorgeMonbiot I don’t find it a compelling argument. I care very much about humanitarian issues but Earth’s systems are more important and are undeniably better off with fewer of us. That’s the bottom line for me.
@terrychristian Pleased to say I haven’t spoken to anyone here in the UK who is remotes celebrating a Trump win. I evidently move in the right circles.
@BrianMendler I know them well. Basically, they're acquiescent, and they coddle and goad young people so they never learn natural consequences. They're survival techniques. Themselves and other adults end up walking on eggshells because the kids understand they're in charge.
@BenGoldsmith They can afford to show more moral integrity. Frankly, the freedom they have to show moral integrity is the only reasonable argument I can see for keeping them. They need to address the incongruities between their sources of finance, and the causes they claim to patronise.
A UK judge sentenced 5 climate activists to 21 years in jail for *planning* to block a London road to demand climate action.
What should Big Oil CEOs get for this?
@JohnRMetzner @Megatron_ron Not quite. Those of us who voted honestly, with integrity, for a smaller party knew our votes wouldn’t count. Many people voted tactically for Starmer to rid us of the Tories. I knew that was a mistake, but I understand why they did.
