Today Mr. Finamore and Ms. Erll introduced participants to Strategic Foresight.
By exploring possible futures in a context of fundamental uncertainty, Strategic Foresight provides analytical methods and conceptual tools for all foreign policy professionals.

Big thanks to the @EUDiploAcademy and all its participants for inviting my colleagues and me to give this introduction to Strategic Foresight. It was a thoroughly enjoyable session, which will also feed reflections on our next "Forward Look" report.
Taking a Forward Look to 2025 by getting a practical introduction to Strategic Foresight
Thank you to Mr. Finamore, Mr. de Marcilly and Ms Erll for the guidance during this workshop!

@elonmusk Thankfully we have community notes. Visegrad 24 is known for posting inaccurate "news". Why are you propagating disinformation, @elonmusk? Can't you see that those are not ballot boxes? Don't you know Visegrad 24 is not a reliable news source? Where is your media literacy?
@BobWade534726 @KamalaHQ He mentions the border: how do you feel about the bipartisan border bill that Trump killed earlier this year? He also mentions the convictions, but surely Trump's character was obvious to any intellectualy honest observer even before?
@BobWade534726 @KamalaHQ I agree, his views make him unfit for such a high office. But the same is true of his running mate, who has given us even more "gems". Unfortunately MAGA has taken control of the Republican party and distorted it beyond recognition. I hope the GOP can free itself from this.
@BobWade534726 @KamalaHQ If I understand correctly, you are talking about families with children of voting age, such as yours. But he is talking about minors. He is arguing that parents should have extra votes to cast for each of their minor children: https://t.co/GnoDXc5ngu
@nelmagene2010@yashar@JDVance But that argument (which is itself debatable and opens a whole other set of issues for discussion) is just not what he said. You don't need to have children in order to have a "direct stake" in your country. And let's not even get into the whole "miserable" thing...
@miamivandynyu @SeanDBurke @yashar Wait, you mean the legislative trying to dictate to the co-equal judicial branch how they function?! Gasp! Shock and horror!
@miamivandynyu@yashar Hey, didn't the Supreme Court rule that the President is immune for all official acts? So apparently the Constitution gives him the power to do much worse than what he's doing, in the current Court's interpretation.
The securitisation of everything?
After weaponisation, comes securitisation. While this is a normal development, #EU policymakers need to understand trade-offs & implications of such a trend for Europe in the world.

@ConnorAllenEU It's not a shrug, it's the rationale behind these rules of international law. That's why the same rules apply to other int.l orgs too. If EU staff paid income tax to Belgium they'd have to raise the gross salaries, and find a way for Belgium to return those sums to the EU budget.
@ConnorAllenEU@smwbxl99@EddyWax I think I may have misread your tweet, so perhaps I misunderstood your point. What I meant is that there would be a transfer of wealth from other EU member states to Belgium, if you took money from the EU budget to pay staff salaries and then gave half of that money to Belgium.
@ConnorAllenEU@smwbxl99@EddyWax I said it *would* result in a wealth transfer. It does not, because they do not pay Belgian income tax. What is your solution to have them pay Belgian income tax and yet avoid the wealth transfer from other Member States to Belgium that *would* occur in that case?
