easiest to understand thread ever "normies largely see hobbies and art as purely instrumental tools for socializing, rather than as ends in and of themselves" which is obviously true and hit dogs are holler in the quotes about how min is Weird for saying "socializing is le bad"
Okay but legitimately why would you just “watch” a game like persona 5? I can’t imagine sitting down for a collective 100+ hours to just watch someone else having fun and experiencing the game
It genuinely amazes me that people actually thought this when the era started off with an idea as creatively bankrupt as David Tennant is the Doctor again
I said it before and I'll say it again, terms like "elitist" and "gatekeeper" are just used now to make you feel bad about treating your media with integrity.
@inkfycreates I’d love to see this discourse reaching other hobbies, people claiming you can be a guitarist without playing guitar and then accusing others of classism when they say that’s not possible
I love how westerners go " but how will poor people play modern AAA ps5 games ???" Like the entirety of the 3rd worlds gaming culture wasn't built around gaming cafes emulation and playing games at 15 fps on yer dad's shitty work laptop
This discourse has been so depressing as a gamedev
I've never really handled the story / art side, I've always focused on the stuff you interact with - UI/UX, networking, gameplay, etc
It feels like people are saying that the parts I enjoy working on don't matter at all
that one tweet that said hollywood will see the success of heated rivalry and come to the conclusion that people want to see more hockey couldn’t have been more right
Without even getting into the fact that the gameplay is the core of the experience, a person who played Elden Ring for 200 hours but never looked deeper into the lore has more authentically experienced that lore than the person who only watched youtube videos about the lore.
