The fact a player just broke Pelé’s World Cup assist record while gliding around the pitch at will, but people choose obsess over the fact he dragged some shots wide is nutsss
Some of you need to revaluate how you watch football if that’s truly your lens
Exclusive: Chelsea are close to signing Melvine Malard from Manchester United for a fee that would be a club-record sale for MUFC. The France forward will reunite with Sonia Bompastor, who is a big admirer. All parties seem happy with the deal. More here.

Harry Kane has accused ITV and other World Cup broadcasters of trying to create division in the England squad as he dismissed the notion of a rift
“When you are playing a game like that and to be asked a question five minutes after the final whistle, and he [Bellingham] didn’t really know what the manager has said, what do you want Jude to say?
“It is easy to try and create this division – it seems like an English mentality, an English thing to do at these major tournaments."

The way people glaze Spain is crazy they didn’t make it to KO in 2014 and were knocked out by Russia and Morocco in the next two world cups in the first KO round the stat means nothing this is not a good team
🇪🇸 That’s the first goal Spain have conceded from open play in the knockouts of the FIFA World Cup for 7,318 days.
Zinedine Zidane of France being the last.
Genuinely Imagine if ANY of our other politicians got spoken to with as much scathing hatred as this. These people don't care about you if the one thing that pisses them off is them being made to look like a joke.
The contempt with which “serious” journalists talk to Count Binface could all be washed away if they did their fucking job in grilling career politicians instead of stroking their ego live on camera for fear they won’t come back on. CB would become obsolete at that point.
"I don't need a pact with anybody. I'm quite happy, thank you."
Count Binface, the 'intergalactic space warrior' taking on Nigel Farage in the Clacton by-election, rules out a deal with the Monster Raving Loony Party, who also plan to stand.

@JamesSurowiecki Also the dynamic nature of soccer not having regular breaks means there’s changing game states that need to be managed by players without much direction from coaches. The idea that “lesser” teams only win by being defensive is a bit misguided imo as well
@JamesSurowiecki Even if your last sentence was wholly true you find a lot of offensive creativity going on in real time even when playing defensively. Where football has pre-determined plays, soccer players need to do things on the fly which adds a level of complexity that can’t be coached out
🚨🚨| These players have no room for error in the quarter-finals, one booking = potential World Cup semi-final suspension.

Youth soccer (youth sports) is a competitive market with businesses selling a product that obviously customers are willing to pay for. I’d love if soccer was free to all. But who is going to pay for all this free soccer?
@LoofTroop Lmaooo predictions would be tough anyway with the 3rd place teams getting through, I just mean looking at each fixture to say Argentina have had the hardest route to QF purely off a flawed fifa ranking system is disingenuous at best
