Help the City of Salem name their new all-electric mini street sweeper!
With the addition of this sweeper to the City's fleet, the City will be able to build protected bike lanes.

This sweeper is small enough to be able to properly maintain protected bike lanes and multi-use paths, which has been an obstacle to building protected bike lanes.
This is a significant step to executing our vision for a citywide network of protected bike lanes!
As research has shown, building protected bike lanes will improve the safety for everyone on city roads, whether they are on foot, astride a bike, or in a car.
As of September 16th, 19 people have been killed on the City of Salem's road. This is far more than the number of people killed on Salem's streets in 2023.
The City is taking steps to make our streets safer, for which we are grateful, but there is more to do.
This is great news! One of our co-founders, Virginia Stapleton, led the effort at City Council to bring Leading Pedestrian Intervals to downtown #SalemOR.
These changes will make those who walk more visible to drivers and will result in less fatal and serious crashes downtown.

Out of all of Oregon's cities, #SalemOR ranks 28th and we clock in at 1092nd in the U.S.
We have a lot of work to do, but with your help, we are making progress.

In the first five months of 2024, cars have killed more people in Salem than than all of 2023's traffic deaths.
The projected numbers show our current trajectory unless we as a community take action to create safer transportation options right now.

Additionally, this project will include a new bicycle signal to cross Liberty Road S, and a rapid flashing beacon on Commercial Street SE at Triangle Drive SE.
This is the first in a series of improvements to Commercial Street SE over the next few years.
This summer, a key section of our proposed North-South #SalemOR Crosstown Corridor will be completed! This project, which stretches more than a mile on Commercial Street SE from Oxford Street SE to Madrona Avenue SE, will include buffered bike lanes.
Today, we had a very productive annual retreat planning the next year's work. We have some great things in store and are excited to share them with you in the months ahead!
Tomorrow, Virginia Stapleton, one of our co-founders and Salem city councilor, will make a motion to “direct staff to conduct a study to gather recommendations to increase pedestrian and bicycle safety and access within Salem’s downtown core.”
How You Can Help!
-Sign up to provide in person public comment on rosters in the entryway of council chambers around 6 pm in City Hall to voice your support of the motion.
