I use these beetle wing elytra in my designs. When punching a hole in them, patience is needed to make sure I do not crack them.

But, they are gorgeous! The colors that come through are iridescent & eye-catching.

FYI - This was painted in 1889, not 1888.

Fun fact: This dress inspired my line of Jewel Beetle wing elytra jewelry that I now sell in my shop! The iridescent colors of the elytra (shades of green, blue, golden orange, & even purple) are stunning!
