Not because it’s cruel but because it doesn’t care.

That’s why I think we’ve misunderstood the saying, “Time waits for nobody.”
This things is, 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚 isn’t refusing to wait. It was never waiting in the first place.
The strange part is, we talk about time as if it’s moving.

But has time ever really moved? Or have we mistaken our movement through time for time’s movement? The Earth spins. The planets keep moving. Our bodies grow older. Memories build up. Life keeps happening. Everything changes. Yet we keep saying time is the one that’s moving. Maybe we’re the ones moving. We never actually experience the past, we only remember it. We never experience the future, we only imagine it. The only thing you’ve ever truly touched… is the present. Yesterday only exists as memories in our mind. Tomorrow only exists as thoughts about what might happen. The present is the only place life has ever happened. Which makes me wonder…

Maybe life isn’t a race against time. Maybe it’s a relationship with the present and maybe the greatest tragedy isn’t that time passes. It’s that many of us stop living long before it does. Maybe we’ve misunderstood time our entire lives. It never moved. We did.

Some of you were 20 when you entered uni. Some of you, at 20, weren’t even as bold or confident as you are now. Some of you couldn’t even look a man or woman straight in the eye.
Wait! How do you expect an average 20 year old Nigerian girl to think or behave? Y’all are cr*zy.

Some of you are no longer 20, yet you’re judging a 20 year old based on your current stage of life, forgetting that she was just 20.
Some of you are past 25 now, but at 20, you made decisions that, if you think back today, you’d probably cringe at OR is it because your own bad decisions didn’t cost you your life that you now find it easy to judge her? Some of you are still making worse decisions even now.

Before you blame that girl, ask yourself: At 20, what was my level of maturity? How did I reason? How much did I really know about life?
