Salina Fire Department is reminding residents to celebrate the Independence Day holiday safely and in accordance with City of Salina fireworks regulations. Fireworks may be discharged within the city limits only on July 3 and July 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
After recent storms, please do not burn branches, leaves, brush, or other yard waste in Salina. Open burning of these items is prohibited by city ordinance and can trigger fire department response. Also please keep storm debris at least 3 feet away from fire hydrants.
Shoutout to Casey, our EVT, for going above and beyond for Salina Fire Department. He built the EMS bed for our new Can-Am from scratch, then painted it and wired the emergency lights. This will help us reach patients off road and on hiking trails. Thank you, Casey!

We wanted to pass along to the public that Fire Station 2 is back open and crews have moved back in as of 4pm today. The station was closed for a short time due to roof damage from the hail storm, causing major leaks inside the station. All repairs have been competed.

The annual Kansas State Firefighters Association Conference kicked off this morning in Manhattan and runs through Sunday afternoon. Over the next three days, they’ll be attending classes and committee meetings as part of the conference.
This morning, the Salina Fire Department HazMat team will be conducting a scheduled training exercise at the Kubota facility. You may see emergency vehicles and personnel in the area, but this is training only and there is no danger to the public.
After 27 years of service, Paramedic Jamie Welsch is retiring. Jamie has shown dedication to the citizens of Salina & Saline County. He made a real difference for patients, coworkers & families on some of their hardest days. Congratulations, Jamie, on a well-deserved retirement.
