@DKinnard Sto:lo translates as 'the River People' and 'the River'. It is the name for the Indigenous people of the region that make up most of the Lower Mainland (sohl temex) excepting the mouth of the Fraser (Sto:lo) River, Vancouver and the North Shore. Sto:lo are Coast Salish peoples.

We are thinking of our loved ones on the Fraser River (sto:lo river) and hope they get out and stay safe. We're also worrying about our loved ones who will be called in to rescue those who are trapped. It is worthwhile remembering the history of this area at risk. Here it is: 1

Lastly, some old Sto:lo scripture about the Sto:lo River (Fraser River) & a previous flood. The terrible floods of scripture aren't the seasonal floods, but these horrible inundations. This river is the heart of our world - may everyone who lives around it be safe. 3

Returning to our social media account after an absence due to a personal loss. We've reached out to our writers - we have 5 in the queue, and 1 set up for December. Very excited to see more progress on telling Salish stories - and hopefully more news for you in coming days.

We at the Coast Salish History Project are very happy to announce that Katzie First Nation linguist @cheyenneclc4 will be writing for us, with a history due out this December. We are speaking with several other writers and hope to have more announcements in the coming weeks.

We're finalizing agreements with the first 3 writers for the Coast Salish History Project. Our plan is to have new histories and podcasts out in November, December, and January. We hope to announce their names very soon.
