There are some people whose lives are so extraordinary that they redefine what humanity believes is possible. Nims Dai was one of them.

I still cannot believe I am writing these words.

Having had the privilege of knowing Nirmal Purja personally, I can say that beyond the records, the medals, and the global recognition, he was an incredibly humble, kind, and inspiring human being. His courage wasn’t just measured by the mountains he climbed, but by the countless lives he lifted with his belief that “nothing is impossible.”

He made every Nepali stand a little taller on the world stage. He inspired an entire generation to dream fearlessly, to push beyond limits, and to believe that determination can move even the highest mountains.

Today, Nepal has lost a national icon. The world has lost a legend. And the mountaineering community has lost one of its brightest lights.

My heart also goes out to the families, friends, and loved ones of the other climbers and mountaineers who tragically lost their lives in this devastating avalanche. Every one of them carried dreams, courage, and a deep love for the mountains. May they all be remembered not only for the peaks they pursued, but for the lives they lived and the people they inspired.

My deepest condolences to every family grieving this unimaginable loss. May you find strength, comfort, and peace in the love and legacy they leave behind.

Thank you, Nims Dai, for showing us that the greatest summits are not just mountains, they are the limits we dare to overcome.

Your legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Rest in peace, Nims Dai, and may all those who lost their lives alongside him rest in eternal peace. 🕊️🇳🇵
