@DaveThroup Yep - its going to become far more commonplace all over the world - our hard surfaced urban areas don't help, we need more permeability and trees - slow the flow
The 10 minute rule bill to introduce a #peatban in parliament will take place NEXT WEEK! Write to your MP now and call for their support. Here's a template letter in case you need a hand💚https://t.co/5w8mKIvgfm
@SallyNex@FloraliveUK I have several in the greenhouse - their leaves were completely covered with whiteflies but still I had plague numbers..... sarracenia worked well too
Why are house builders allowed to let surface water go down the drains and overwhelm our sewage systems? In the past water from the roof went into soakaways. No wonder water companies are struggling with the heavy rainfall.
👀 16 April is a big day for nature and climate 👀
🏗️ #TheresaVilliers is bidding to save #peat bogs from being dug up for garden compost.
✅ It's a govt commitment with cross party support.
⏰ There's time for this to become law before the election but the clock is ticking...

I'm super excited to announce that my new book, The Climate Change Resilient Vegetable Garden is out now. After teaching and writing on this topic for many, many years, I realised there was a need for an upbeat guide that provided hope and empowerment for the gardener, as much as the on-the-ground solutions for building resilience with all the challenges we face. This book very much channels my writing in the Guardian back in 2014 and has been a year and a half of love in the making. It features lots of money and time saving ideas and inspiration, as well as the ways to build resilience in line with the natural world. For person, plate and planet.💚 💚 💚

Great to see new research starting up in flood management - but really think this is about 20 years too late. We've known this was going to be a problem for ages but like all climate change stuff, we've sat on our hands and hoped it wouldn't come to this
A whole host of exciting new PhDs linked to flooding are advertised here including one led by me, @DrCharlLloyd and @sanchez_baracal looking as cascade effects of flooding and drought interactions on aquatic ecosystems. Please share!
Delighted to announce that @Sally_Morgan's book The Resilient Garden and Allotment Handbook is coming out in March 2024! This book is full of practical advice and wisdom on how to boost #soilhealth, promote #diversity and build a resilient #garden. #GardeningTwitter
@janetmanning1 @chrisw01@earthFgardener I think considtions in rain gardens are so varied, both within the garden and between rgs that its impossible to generalise down to a list and plants I have seen used are not necessarily specialists but generalists that are resilient
