@Woaakk@AnalysisShrews Yeah that’s really valid. V inconsistent. But I think he could well turn into a Gav player. Presses a lot, works really hard, and I think in his limited cameo’s, he looked like one of the few town players with a good touch and ability to play in tight spaces.
From these radar charts immediately stands out his ability to progress the ball and generate threat through passing. Surprisingly even better in aerial duels at centre half than full back, his progressive receiving suggests to me he could play wing back as well as LCB.
Looking at the starting XI, most of the defence is now in place. What I do wonder about is depth in that back 5. Lee’s best position is probably as CCB. I think Stubbs makes a good understudy to Hoole for RCB, but we do lack left footed defender depth.
Another player that could be an interesting fit is Jon Esenga. A left footed Fulham U21 player capable of playing both Left Back and Centre Half, he could play a role in the squad covering 2 positions for #Salop
@Jakecafc23@crewealexfc@Gibson7_ I like him. Can get past a player, technical, top 5% for threat generated from dribbles last time he was in L2. Finds pockets of space well and good striker of the ball. I’d just ask if he can do this consistently. But again, that’s a question you ask of most L2 players!
@shrewsnews_@Rolandsellup In all fairness I spoke with someone fairly high up at the club the other day, and the language they used with me strongly suggested something in the pipeline for sure
Welcome to Salop!
🚨 Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce the signing of defender Arkell Jude-Boyd.
Salop have beaten off competition from a host of other clubs to land the 23-year-old 🤩
Arkell has signed a two-year contract at the Croud Meadow with an option for a third year 🏟️
I think he’s quite aggressive in stepping out and committing to the challenge, which that rashness can get himself beaten. Yes, he has the recovery speed, but tbqh, if we resign Luca Hoole, having him defend the space behind AJB is quite… comforting? I think they would work well
I watched Arkell Jude-Boyd against Crawley back in January. I thought he had decent pace and was willing to drive at a full back. Not top end pace but decent enough for a wing back at this level. Certainly strong and robust in both aerial and ground duels. Crossing a touch raw
