IOTA
The weekend was a mix of playing on the radio, socializing, and playing in the sun on the water. Our island designator was NA-075. #IOTA#AmateurRadio#SaltSpringIsland#NA075
The Salt Spring Island Amateur Radio Society did an #IOTA (Islands on the Air) event on Aug 31. We got set up for it and made some contacts on Aug 30 as well. Most were SSB, but a few were in CW. It was also a great weekend for sun, playing on the water, visiting and great food!
Field Day is always the 4th full weekend in June starting at 18:00 UTC. It runs for a 24 hour period… unless you don’t set the antennas up ahead of time in which case you get an extra (almost) 3 hours. Good luck with Field Day! #AmateurRadio#HamRadio#FD#FieldDay
The Salt Spring Island Amateur Radio Society is doing Field Day at the Rod & Gun Club, 223 Long Harbour Road. Visitors are welcome to drop by! See amateur radio in action, making as many contacts as possible in a 24 hour period. Field Day this year is June 22-23 starting 11 am.
This is a demonstration of how well an offset attenuator works for Fox Hunting. While a directional antenna is needed to find the approximate location, an offset attenuator can literally be used to pin-point it. #AmateurRadio#FoxHunt#OffsetAttenuator#SaltSpringIsland#X
SSIARS will hold another Fox Hunt at Mouat Park today at 10:00. All are welcome to participate or observe. The Fox doesn’t stand a chance! X marks the spot. Some will meet at Embe Bakery afterwards. #AmateurRadio#HamRadio#FoxHunt#SaltSpringIsland#X

The Salt Spring Island Amateur Radio Society will be doing Field Day at the Rod & Gun club at 223 Long Harbour Road again. It should be a bit cooler than last year! There will be a BBQ at noon Saturday & breakfast Sunday morning. 73 and good luck! #ARRL#FieldDay#FD#RAC#HF
Veronica the Velociraptor will be roaming around the Fall Fair on Sept 10-11 promoting the Salt Spring Island Amateur Radio Society. Help track down the dinosaur and keep Salt Spring Island safe! #AmateurRadio#FoxHunt#DinosaurHunt (cameras only!) @SkyTechPhotoSSI
Dinosaur spotted on Salt Salt Spring Island! Rumor has it that it may be roaming around at the Fall Fair Sept 10-11 2022. If we can trick it into swallowing a transmitter, we can use fox hunting techniques to track it down! #SSIARS#AmateurRadio#FallFair@SkyTechPhotoSSI
SSIARS had another successful fox hunt in Mouat Park yesterday. Two foxes met their demise. They can run, but they can’t hide! This is getting to be a regular event.#SaltSpringIsland#FoxHunt#YAGI#OffsetAttenuator#RAC
Field Day 2022 has come and gone. This was the first time our club had a multi-station operation (3A BC) and the first time we made it a multi-day event. It was combined with a BBQ, a silent auction & fox hunting. Temperatures were a bit warm, but it was a complete success. #FD
Everyone is having a good time at Field Day… and enjoyed the BBQ too! We haven’t made a lot of contacts yet but we are still working on that! The club call sign is VE7RAS. #AmateurRadio#FueldDay#FD#RAC#ARRL#VE7RAS
Field Day is tomorrow. Even if you don’t go out and set up portable somewhere, either alone or with your club, get on the air, have some fun and make some contacts! You can even operate 1D or 1E from home. #FieldDay#FD#ARRL#RAC#AmateurRadio#HamRadio
It’s June 21 and the longest day of the year! That’s a good enough excuse to get on the air. I know it will be a mad rush Saturday morning, but I’m getting ready for Field Day. I’ll be one of the guys operating the club station from VE7RAS. #AmateurRadio#FieldDay#FD#RAC#ARRL
