@lynelle74@EstieMaddie Not to be That Guy, but with the money Charlie found in the sewer grate, he bought a Scrumdiddlyumptious bar, wolfed it down, then bought ANOTHER chocolate bar, plain, which he opened (after seeing the last reported winning ticket was a fake) to reveal the golden ticket.
Breathing.
Some days I am chased.
Some days I am the one clinging.
On both days, I keep breathing.
There are nights I cannot laugh, and mornings I cannot speak. I wear a face nobody sees and call it surviving.
The list of what I failed at today loops in my head until sunrise. The questions still have no answers. I lie under the same ceiling anyway.
I avoid the ones I cannot face.
I look up to the ones I cannot reach.
The body between them shakes.
The body between them breathes.
Nothing in my life has changed today, and nothing will change tomorrow. And still this heart, small and stubborn, refuses to stop.
If the world will not be kind to me,
let me at least not be cruel to myself.
My emotions are worn through. My answers will not arrive. Someone else's certainty keeps trying to take the air from my chest.
This body has not given up on me yet.
I did not win today.
I did not lose today.
I did the thing nobody clapped for.
I breathed.
Keep
breathing.
Missed this - RIP to the great Alfred Slote. If you were a boy growing up in the US in the 70โs & 80โs, and you got too old for Matt Christopherโs sports books, you moved on to Alfred Slote. The Biggest Victory, Jake, My Father the Coach, etc.

Normal people never take responsibility for an entire group simply because thereโs no way to know that everyone in that group lives up to the morals youโre willing to defend.
You can be part of a community, a religion, or a nation, but you have to be reckless to say, โEverybody in my community is good,โ or, when someone from your group is accused of something, immediately respond, โThatโs impossible. Nobody from my group would ever do that.โ There is simply no way for you to know that. Taking responsibility for the actions of millions of people youโve never met makes no sense.
This is why, no matter how highly I think of Israel or how much I support the IDF, there is no way for me to say the IDF can do no wrong. I canโt take responsibility for every IDF soldier because I donโt know them. People make mistakes, and some people have bad intentions.
What I can say is that the IDF, as an institution, operates under rules and standards that I support. I feel comfortable saying that if a soldier does something wrong, they are expected to be investigated and, if appropriate, punished. Soldiers are trained to uphold those standards. But claiming that every single soldier is automatically good and beyond criticism makes no sense.
This is coming from someone who openly admits to being very biased in favor of Israel, yet I still try to apply this standard consistently.
Many people on the opposite side do the exact opposite. They have no problem declaring that all of Israel is evil or that every IDF soldier is guilty by default. But they donโt know millions of Israelis any more than I do. They havenโt met every soldier, they donโt know their intentions, and they have no more ability than I do to judge every individual.
Ironically, they accuse others of blind loyalty while practicing the very thing they criticize. Theyโre simply loyal to a different narrative. If itโs reckless for me to claim that every Israeli or every soldier is automatically good, then itโs just as reckless to claim theyโre all automatically evil.
The honest position is to judge institutions by their values, conduct, and accountability while judging individuals by their own actions. There are good people and bad people everywhere. There are honorable soldiers and criminals in every military. Pretending otherwise is prejudice disguised as certainty, not wisdom.
@hughhewitt@ReesesSpecies@Commentary In agreement w/Dan Scheuftan in that the rise in Jew-hatred can be seen as a good thing in that it reveals those who previously hid it, supporting their fellow Jew-haters like Tucker and his followers on the right, and Mamdani & the entire โDemocratic Socialistโ left. @inssisrael
Of course capitalism isn't natural, you incomplete set of plastic picnic utensils.
What's natural is theft, robbery, and murder.
What's natural is anarchy, chaos, the rape of the weak by the strong, and nature red in tooth and claw.
The free market, which you call "capitalism", is not called "free" because everyone is free to do whatever they want. Because what a lot of people want to do is steal. You'll know which ones by the hammer and sickle logo they draw on things.
No, the free market is called free because it is freed from coercion and violence.
And of course it was spread by violence, you factory-defective lawn flamingo. Because it was spread by hanging all the bandits and robbers, and if hangings aren't violence I don't know what is.
And of course it's maintained by coercion, you British pub food connoisseur. If you don't coerce thieves not to steal, then they will steal everything you build faster than than you can build it.
You have to use violence to stop the violent, and coerce the coercers not to coerce.
And of course it's maintained by the superficial facade of liberal democracy, you Vogon poetry appreciator. The global average citizen is a mentally retarded third-world savage with less emotional self-control than my cat. If we let them have candidates that truly represented their agenda, then every useful thing humanity has built for the last twelve thousand years would be torn down in a week to buy them more party drugs. Followed by every woman being raped to death, and then uncomprehending starvation as they slowly and painfully learned that grocery stores don't spontaneously spawn food pickups, like in video games.
Jesus Christ, woman, you're talking about a species that evolved to live in hominid tribes of 100 apes, and throw rocks at zebras. In modern civilization, the so-called "average" person is so far out of his depth that the fish have lights on their noses.
And the more complex and sophisticated civilization gets, the more investments in the future that we need to protect, so that the retarded monkeys don't steal them all to buy more vodka and cigarettes.
Yeah, sure, sometimes capitalist systems end up defending property that someone's great-grandfather stole. But so fucking what? You think communism is gonna fix that? You think communism is gonna bring justice?
Communist nations can't afford justice. They can't even manage to feed themselves half the time. Get back to us when you've mastered the agricultural revolution, we've only been waiting since the beginning of recorded time.
The trick is to put the seeds in the dirt, guys.
Only at state fairs will you get ridiculous food options like taking 2 Boston Crรจme doughnuts pulsed to a liquid with a scoop of ice cream, spiked with molly, and then taken rectally through a funnel.
@SvenTystnad Each one of these 4 polls has at least 1 show thatโs a spin off. Not saying that means anything, only that it jumped out at me. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
