Democracy, education, healthcare, decency, and liberty; be kind to people and the world will end up ok. We have WAY more in common than we don't -Slava Ukraini
“The Court’s decision to permit the Executive to violate the Constitution with respect to anyone who has not yet sued is an existential threat to the rule of law.”
When Canada walked away from the negotiating table with USA on the trade deals, I was a little surprised. When Pierre Poilievre and Doug Ford - 2 people who never agree with Mark Carney on ANYTHING - came out and vocally backed Carney on this, it got my attention. How bad could the deal be to where THOSE TWO would vocally back Carney?
I'm about to tell you.
If you ever see a midwit talking about how Canada should have taken the trade "deal" ( @DavidPollackUSA, someone nobody has ever accused of being intelligent, seems to be especially on this kick of late), here are some of the details of the terms of what the US demanded - which essentially amounted to making Canada a subservient nation-state instead of an independent country. And no, this isn't a joke - these were real demands.
-Canada would have to abandon speaking French in Quebec
-They would have had to follow the US in ANY TRADE WARS Trump started with any other nation
-They would have to open their borders to allow US tech companies to start putting datacenters all over their country
-They would have given the US VETO AUTHORITY over any other trade deal Canada wanted with any other country
-They would have required Canada to voluntarily bankrupt all of its dairy farmers by allowing US dairty to proliferate into Canada unfiltered
-They would have had to agree to standardize their fertilizer and pesticide standards to what the US does (Canada's regulations are more stringent, so they would have had to accept our pesticides that cause cancer)
-They would have had to surrender their sovereignty with regards to their minerals
And these are just a few of the highlights.
Trump's "deal" was essentially to strip Canada of its sovereignty. No wonder they walked away.
A man put himself at enormous risk to turn on the cartels and testify against them, making him a target for a hideous death if they ever got their hands on him. As a result, he got protection under the Convention Against Torture.
The Trump admin deported him to Mexico anyway.
US president, Ronald Reagan, and Canadian Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney, in 1988. Later that year, Reagan said: “Our peaceful trading partners are not our enemies; they are our allies. We should beware of the demagogs who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends—weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag."

Liev Schreiber: "Lot of people think that I'm involved in Ukraine because I have Ukrainian grandparents, but I'm involved in Ukraine because I'm American, and I think that the cause of democracy is probably clearer here than anywhere else in the world right now, at least to me."
I talked to a restauranteur in Northern NV this week. Asked him if he would take my beef directly. He said he was precluded by the two monopolist food distributors US Foods and Sysco from getting meat from other sources or they would charge them more for all of their other food supplies. It is not just the Big Four meat processors, it is the Big Two distribution firms too. Ranchers don’t directly see this nor do consumers. @SecretaryBurgum@SecRollins@realDonaldTrump
TRUMP: “We'll by Argentinian beef.”
Reporters:' What about the US farmers who are suffering?'
Trump: “Argentina is fighting for its life. Do you understand me? They’re dying.”
He says this as 77 American cattle producers are going out of business in the US per day.
This is what I don’t understand about people
You have a good dude like Talarico running against a fucking criminal
If that’s not enough to excite you, then what is? Because if you don’t get out &vote for the good dude, the criminal is gonna win and then make your life fucking horrible.
Like we’re experiencing now with the fucking criminal pedo in the White House
A developer using Bluetooth headphones accidentally caught Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba secretly hijacking his computer's audio system without making a single sound.
When his wireless headphones refused to switch audio to his phone while browsing AliExpress, he inspected the site's hidden code. He discovered background scripts holding his computer's audio pipeline wide open.
Alibaba was using the browser's WebAudio API to run invisible sound waves at zero volume. By measuring tiny hardware differences in how each computer processes those signals, the site created a unique digital fingerprint to track devices.
Because the secret audio path stayed active, it froze his Bluetooth connection while quietly scraping hardware memory, screen dimensions, and network data in the background.
As a Retired US Army paratrooper, pictures like these hit hard. Trump never had the courage to pick up a rifle and man a post when he was called to serve.
Yet he has the nerve to promote AI pictures like this showing him wearing things like Parachutist badges, and rows of ribbons he never had to courage to obtain. Anyone who has ever served should be pissed at garbage like this.
His father paid a doctor’s note so he wouldn't have to serve. But remember that for every one of the draft deferments, someone else had to go in his place.
A pure disgrace.
Another day, and still not a word from Trump about the tens of thousands of Americans in Indiana who have been without power for more than a week after deadly storms.
At least seven people are dead. Families are losing food and insulin. Trump's posted plenty of AI memes, though. https://t.co/fN9NY9U4ob
NEW: A service member says his father was taken by ICE while he was deployed aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln for over nine months fighting the war in Iran.
Per his post, his father has a driver's license, social security card, and a work permit.
