You should actually read posts before you respond. I haven't addressed the president's policy at all although I might do so in a different post. I am specifically pushing back on the implication that a handful of Ivy league universities in general and Harvard in particular is the be all and end all in research. If the research efforts (and perhaps also some of the researchers) were to shift to a different institution, I don't think that science as a whole would be set back significantly. I

know many exceptional research groups in the Harvard system and in fields in which I am familiar, there are equally exceptional research groups elsewhere who compete with them. (There are also more pedestrian research groups both at Harvard and elsewhere).
